About this role

[What the role is]
We are looking for a lawyer who can take a complex matter and answer three questions clearly: What happened? What is our position? What should we do? And, over time: What can we do better?

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Legal Department, you will provide legal advice and support across HDB's development, upgrading and other functions, with a focus on construction and dispute resolution.

[What you will be working on]

What you will do

• Provide dispute resolution advice and legal support on building and construction, infrastructure and other projects, including managing litigation, arbitration, adjudication, mediation and settlement, and liaising with external solicitors, experts and stakeholders.

• Assess disputes by analysing legal merits, evidence, quantum, procedural risk and wider institutional considerations, and provide practical, decision-ready recommendations.

• Advise on real estate, procurement, corporate and commercial matters and transactions, including drafting and reviewing tender documentation, contracts and other legal documents.

• Advise on legislation under HDB's purview, including legislative amendments required to support HDB's programmes and policies.

• Work closely with operational and technical teams on construction issues such as variations, delay, extensions of time, payment, defects and termination.

• Work with multi-disciplinary teams on a wide range of projects and help translate lessons from disputes into improvements to contracts and processes.

[What we are looking for]

Requirements

• Law degree and admission as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.

• At least 5 years of relevant experience preferred.

• Strong legal analysis, judgment and problem-solving.

• Ability to investigate complex facts and provide clear, practical advice.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with stakeholders

• Good interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills.
