Senior Accountant

· Financial Accounting & Month-End Close:

· • End-to-end ownership of the UK month-end-close ensuring all journals and associated tasks are completed accurately and timely

· • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions and other month-end adjustments

· • Perform monthly Local Ledger to US GAAP reporting reconciliation

· • Prepare and review Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations using ‘Blackline’

· • Maintain a high standard of financial controls and supporting documentation alongside professional scepticism

· Tax & Statutory Compliance:

· • Own the preparation and submission of UK VAT returns and associated payments, including supporting calculations and reconciliations and addressing VAT queries

· • Preparation of Corporation Tax calculations and submissions, working with internal and external advisors where appropriate

· • Lead the preparation of the annual Statutory Financial Statements and supporting schedules

· • Ensure all statutory, tax and regulatory deadlines are identified, monitored and met

· Intercompany Recharges:

· • Take full accounting ownership for the monthly, quarterly and annual recharge process for the European HQ

· • Ensure regionally incurred costs are accurately captured and appropriately classified

• Calculate and allocate regional costs to global entities in accordance with agreed · recharge allocation methodology

· • Maintain clear supporting documentation for allocation methodologies, calculations and intercompany charges

· • Work closely with Finance and other stakeholders globally to investigate and resolve intercompany recharge and intercompany differences

· • Identify opportunities to improve and automate the recharge process while maintaining appropriate controls and transparency

· European Entity Oversight:

· • Supervision and management of one or more external accounting firms responsible for the accounting for other European entities

· • Monitor performance against SLA’s and established deliverables

· • Review work prepared by the external accounting firms and ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with group requirements

· • Act as a key point of contact between external accounting providers and internal Finance stakeholders

· Process Improvement & Controls:

· • Continually assess accounting processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, standardization and control

· • Develop and maintain clear accounting procedures and standard works

· • Take ownership of issues through to resolution rather than relying on escalation

· • Support finance transformation, system automation and process improvement initiatives as required

· • Contribute to the development of a scalable and well-controlled European finance function

• Fully qualified accountant with a recognized professional accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent)

• Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of accounting fundamentals

• Demonstrable experience managing month-end close activities and taking ownership of financial deliverables

• Experience with UK VAT, Corporation tax and statutory financial statements

• Experience working in a multinational or multi-entity environment

• Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data

• Pro-active, ownership-driven approach, with the ability to manage responsibilities from initiation through to completion

• A strong continuous improvement mindset, consistently looking for ways to simplify, standardize and strengthen processes

• Excellent attention to detail, combined with an ability to understand the wider financial and commercial context

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate and resolve issues independently

• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with finance and non-finance stakeholders

• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and deadlines

• The confidence to challenge existing processes and constructively drive improvements

• A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, advisers and service providers

• Experience managing or overseeing external accounting providers or third-party service provides would be advantageous

• Experience with Blackline and HFM is advantageous
