About Our Family

We're a creative, low-key household in Seattle with a busy, warm rhythm to our days. Both parents work from home -- one in a dedicated home office during business hours, the other focused on hands-on parenting and personal creative pursuits. We have a toddler who keeps things lively and full of energy, two sweet cats, and a home full of indoor plants that we genuinely love caring for.

We move fast, travel often, and we like our home to feel calm and organized even when life is full. We use systems to stay on top of things, and we're looking for someone who will slot right in and help us keep everything running smoothly. We host guests a handful of times a year, travel at least twice a month, and value a home that feels reset and ready -- without either of us having to spend evenings catching up on chores.

We're a friendly household that respects professional boundaries. Because we're both home during working hours, we're not looking for someone who needs constant direction or social engagement -- we want someone who can read the room, get things done, and genuinely take ownership of the home environment.

Who You Are and What We're Looking For

You're a seasoned household professional who thrives with autonomy. You don't wait to be told what needs doing -- you see it, you handle it, and you communicate clearly when you need input. You're warm and good with little ones, but you understand the difference between a family home and a social setting. You're comfortable moving through a home where people are working and a toddler may be napping, keeping things efficient and unobtrusive.

You're organized, proactive, and take pride in systems that actually hold up over time. You're comfortable with pets, plants, and a home that's always a little in motion. You communicate directly, handle feedback well, and bring a calm, professional energy to everything you do. You don't need hand-holding -- but you're also not afraid to speak up and say "here's what I think needs to happen next."

Key Responsibilities:

Household Organization & Maintenance

- Create and maintain household organization systems that work for an active family
- Perform daily resets and prepare the home ahead of scheduled cleaning visits, including creating a punch list for cleaning staff and ensuring completion
- Light tidying: dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas
- Unload and load the dishwasher daily
- Manage seasonal clothing, décor, and bedding swaps
- Coordinate donation drop-offs
- Prepare the home for guests and holidays
- Pack and unpack for family travel
- Water indoor plants weekly using the Planta app schedule
- Manage small recurring upkeep tasks (charging cat toys, refilling humidifiers, replacing air purifier filters approximately every two months)
- Maintain and refresh the entry/foyer area

Inventory & Errands

- Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies
- Manage household supply lists and place orders via Amazon Fresh, Costco, and Target
- Manage and put away recurring pet supply subscriptions
- Handle Amazon returns and break down boxes

Meal Support

- Batch ingredient prep once per week (focus on dinner components; simple, efficient cooking that fits within other tasks)
- Manage grocery ordering and put away (primarily Amazon Fresh); track restocking needs
- Kitchen clean-up and maintenance

Laundry & Linens

- Wash, fold, and organize household laundry including toddler laundry (specific detergent and drying preferences to be communicated)
- Weekly sheet and towel rotation; weekly floor mat laundering
- Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas

Family Support

- Light back-up childcare as needed (e.g., 30-60 minute coverage while a parent steps out)
- Kid-related errand
- Occasional evening babysitting for date nights (approximately once per month)
- Support with household calendar management; will expand as the family grows

Pet Care

- Feed cats (wet food, 3x/day when present); clean up food bowls after each meal
- Replace cat water filter (~monthly)
- Restock litter and maintain robo litter box (empty trash tray)
- Put away Chewy deliveries

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

- Fridge clean-outs and purging expired food
- Organizational projects for toys, gear, and storage areas
- Coordinate with and create task lists for the cleaning service

Vehicle Upkeep

- Clean and organize the family vehicle after trips
- Coordinate monthly car wash

Vendor & Property Oversight

- Research and coordinate repair quotes; liaise with existing handyman contact
- Find and schedule seasonal vendors (window cleaning approximately once per year, arborist coordination as a longer-term goal)
