Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Buyer Coordinator with restaurant or food service purchasing experience to coordinate purchasing across restaurant, gourmet market, prepared foods, and catering operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience sourcing products, negotiating vendor pricing, managing supplier relationships, monitoring inventory, and supporting purchasing and food cost controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate purchasing needs across restaurant, market, prepared foods, and catering operations.
- Source and evaluate vendors based on product quality, pricing, availability, and reliability.
- Request quotes, negotiate pricing, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare, process, and track purchase orders.
- Maintain vendor relationships, pricing records, and product specifications.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding orders, deliveries, availability, and product quality.
- Review invoices and resolve purchasing or delivery discrepancies.
- Monitor purchasing costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and control expenses.
- Work closely with culinary leadership and management to meet operational purchasing needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or buying.
- Restaurant, hospitality, food service, or food distribution purchasing experience required.
- Knowledge of food products, suppliers, inventory management, and purchasing practices.
- Experience comparing vendor pricing and negotiating purchasing terms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with purchasing or inventory systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
