About this role
The Lab Technician I is responsible for executing the Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs for AgCertain to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, and maintaining analytical throughput to match the production rate, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Operate safely and appropriately in all AgCertain situations and environments
- Ability to demonstrate a basic and continually increasing understanding of the laboratory environment and quality control practices
- Participate in all competencies testing programs including interdepartmental and customer-based equivalency testing
- Collect samples from the production area and perform all relevant analytical tests according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Perform accurate testing of samples to create final product Certificate of Analyses for approval by others as defined by SOPs in a timely manner
- Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
- Communicate directly with production department to ensure effective participation by the process operators in the implementation of QA/QC policies and procedures
- Handle, organize and store all chemical substances, fluids, and gases according to safety instructions
- Communicate with third-party lab to schedule outside testing service
- Participate in all company trainings
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate Degree from two-year college/university/tech school in a related scientific or technical field is required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Previous academic, chemical and/or commercial lab experience preferred
- Experience with automated laboratory instrument preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required
- Knowledge of general office equipment required
- Must be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks
- Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate internally and externally with customers
