About this role

Description

Amazon's Worldwide Brand Protection organization ensures that brands can protect their Intellectual Property, and customers can shop with confidence across Amazon's global stores. We do this through ML-powered detection systems that identify abusive actors at enrollment, identity verification pipelines that gate access to brand privileges, and automated enforcement mechanisms that detect catalog manipulation and coordinated abuse at scale.

We are seeking a motivated, data-driven Sr. Risk Manager to join the Brand Protection Policy & Governance team, which owns the development, evolution, and consistent application of Brand Protection's policy frameworks across Amazon's global stores. As the threat landscape shifts, this team creates and adapts policies that define enforcement actions, shape operational processes, and govern seller-facing communications. This role bridges investigative execution with strategic coordination — performing deep dive investigations, coordinating across technical, program, and operational teams, and owning organizational playbooks that enable consistent, scalable investigation execution across cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate is self-driven, takes initiative, and thrives in ambiguity — independently identifying opportunities, shaping direction, and moving work forward when the path isn't clear. They think both tactically and strategically, equally effective resolving a complex investigation as they are influencing cross-organizational priorities, streamlining processes, and removing barriers that slow teams down. They bring strong business judgment, analytical rigor, and excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of succeeding in a customer-driven workplace under tight deadlines. They possess the ability to assess risk, identify and propose multiple solutions, and weigh strategic trade-offs to arrive at the right call in complex, ambiguous situations. They communicate with clarity and conviction to senior leaders and earn trust through consistent, high-quality delivery.

Key job responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Brand Protection escalations — leading deep-dive investigations, driving end-to-end resolution across cross-functional stakeholders within SLA commitments, synthesizing findings into clear communications, and ensuring systematic delivery of risk mitigation outcomes
- Own ad hoc initiatives and cross-functional projects to address emerging risks and operational gaps
- Design and optimize workflows across case resolution, reporting, and process improvement while balancing competing priorities and navigating ambiguity
- Partner with internal legal teams and policy owners as needed to interpret laws, regulations, and business policies
- Define risk strategy and manage the full lifecycle of cross-functional risk programs — driving measurable risk reduction and facilitating alignment across Operations, Product, Engineering, Science, Legal, and other stakeholder teams
- Shape long-term perspective for risk-related business and technology decisions, partnering with stakeholders to prioritize risk mitigation projects
- Develop playbooks and frameworks for risk mitigation and incident response that standardize investigation approaches, enable scalable execution, and drive measurable outcomes across cross-functional teams
- Write clear and compelling narratives and present effectively to directors and VPs
