About this role
Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Job Description This role supports a highly automated central fill pharmacy that packages and distributes medications to retail pharmacies across multiple states. You will work in a fast-paced production environment, manually filling prescriptions, replenishing medications for automated dispensing stations, packaging medications, stocking packages, and performing related tasks that ensure accurate and timely prescription fulfillment. Responsibilities
- Maintain pharmacy systems and technology, including inventory systems and automated medication counting machines, by preparing accurate records and reports, monitoring system compliance with policies and regulations, and ensuring data integrity.
- Monitor inventory levels and expiration dates for pharmaceuticals, calibrate automated machines, apply correct settings for pill and capsule specifications to minimize breakage, and troubleshoot pill cell issues such as jamming throughout production.
- Maintain and track medication inventory by sorting, placing, and storing freight in appropriate locations, restocking and replenishing medication, reporting low stock levels, and ensuring stock rotation on a first-in, first-out basis to support shrinkage control.
- Perform inventory cycle counts, assist with physical inventory counts, create reports using inventory information systems, and monitor prescription inventory for expired pharmaceuticals.
- Support the facility with reporting and paperwork by entering and modifying pharmaceutical data in systems and on forms, processing and submitting required paperwork, and creating and maintaining documentation such as files, manuals, forms, records, and supply logs.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in records or files, prepare reports of pharmacy activities and inventory, including state board mandated testing of counting devices, and inform leadership about incorrect or inefficient processes and improper service procedures.
- Ensure accurate fulfillment of pharmacy prescriptions in an automated central fill pharmacy by using scanners to identify and select the correct pharmaceutical product and quantity, verifying product size and strength before processing orders, and confirming pack and quantity displays.
- Enter expiration dates and lot numbers accurately, label prescriptions, weigh medications to verify quantity, count or pour medications for prescription orders, and prepare packages for distribution in a fast-paced production environment.
- Replenish automated counting machines regularly to maintain continuous workflow and help the team meet daily production and quality goals.
- Maintain the quality, accuracy, and integrity of pharmaceutical and supply inventory by using automated inventory control scanners and systems to track delivery and stocking, and by adhering to documented inventory control procedures.
- Audit and test pill cell performance according to prescribed schedules and procedures, manage pill cell information databases, and troubleshoot issues with pill cell performance to maintain consistent output quality.
- Identify and properly discard hazardous waste, process recalled and expired pharmaceuticals, and manage the disposal or return of outdated stock for credit in compliance with applicable procedures and regulations.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and shipping and receiving coordinators to support efficient operations in a high-volume production environment.
- Contribute to a safe and organized work area by following standard operating procedures, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting continuous improvement efforts.

Work Environment This role is based in a newer, highly automated central fill pharmacy facility that prepares and packages prescriptions for retail pharmacies, rather than dispensing directly to patients. The environment is fast paced and production-focused, requiring a high level of attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy under volume and time pressures. You will work alongside pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and shipping and receiving coordinators, with approximately 200 team members onsite. The facility operates multiple shifts, including 1st shift (approximately 5:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.), 2nd shift (approximately 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.), and 3rd shift (approximately 8:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.), with schedules such as SundayWednesday, Sunday/Monday/Thursday/Friday, and TuesdayFriday. Multiple shifts are available, including options on 1st and 2nd shifts with various day combinations. The role requires standing for most of the shift, often in one spot, while performing repetitive tasks such as scanning, counting, packaging, and replenishing machines. The facility is a closed-door pharmacy, with no customer-facing service, focusing exclusively on registered pharmacy technicians and shipping and receiving functions. The workplace uses automated medication counting machines, inventory control scanners, and computer-based systems to manage prescriptions and inventory. The facility is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and offers a long-term opportunity in a structured, technology-driven production environment.
