About the Role
We are seeking a Recovery Coordinator to provide holistic, person-centred support to adults affected by alcohol and substance use, including those with complex needs, co-existing mental health difficulties and wider vulnerabilities. The postholder will coordinate treatment pathways, undertake assessments and risk management, and deliver clinical and psychosocial interventions to support sustainable recovery.
The role will include supporting clinical treatment processes, including the generation of prescriptions, working closely with prescribing clinicians and healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely treatment coordination in line with clinical procedures and organisational policies. A key responsibility will also be developing and facilitating structured, recovery-focused groups and activities, creating inclusive spaces that build confidence, encourage peer support and strengthen recovery capital.
Working under the direction of the Team Leader, you will be an integral part of a dynamic, multi-agency team supporting individuals to develop new skills, access training and volunteering opportunities and progress towards employment. You will contribute to delivering high-quality recovery services that empower people to achieve their personal goals and maintain long-term recovery.
What You'll Do
- Manage a caseload of service users with varying and complex needs, undertaking comprehensive assessments, risk assessments and regular reviews to coordinate person-centred care, treatment and recovery plans.
- Work effectively with individuals experiencing complex alcohol and substance use issues, including those with co-existing mental health difficulties, physical health conditions and other vulnerabilities, providing compassionate, trauma-informed and recovery-focused support.
- Generating prescriptions in accordance with clinical instructions, organisational policies and established procedures, liaising with prescribing clinicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate prescribing arrangements and continuity of treatment.
- Plan, develop and facilitate a range of structured, recovery-focused groups and activities, creating safe, inclusive and engaging environments that encourage participation, build confidence, promote peer connections and support positive behaviour change.
- Work collaboratively with service users, families, carers, multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to coordinate treatment pathways, deliver psychosocial interventions and support individuals to access appropriate services, training, volunteering and employment opportunities.
- Monitor service users' progress, identify changes in risk or support needs, maintain accurate and confidential records, and contribute to service reviews, group supervision and the ongoing development and evaluation of recovery programmes.
- Promote service user, family and carer involvement, contributing to improved outcomes for children and families affected by drug and alcohol-related harm and supporting individuals to develop recovery capital and achieve sustainable recovery.
To Succeed in This Role, You'll Need
- Experience working as a Recovery Coordinator or in a similar role supporting adults with complex alcohol and substance use needs, including individuals with co-existing mental health difficulties and other vulnerabilities.
- Strong understanding of recovery-oriented, person-centred, trauma-informed and strengths-based practice, with the ability to support individuals towards meaningful and sustainable recovery.
- Experience or knowledge of prescription generation and printing processes, with an understanding of clinical procedures, confidentiality, accuracy and the importance of working within appropriate clinical governance arrangements.
- Experience or confidence in planning, developing and facilitating groups, workshops or structured activities, with the ability to create inclusive and supportive environments that encourage participation and peer engagement.
- Ability to undertake comprehensive assessments, manage complex caseloads, identify and respond to risk, prioritise competing demands and maintain accurate and timely service-user records.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency environments, building positive working relationships with prescribing clinicians, healthcare professionals, specialist services, families and partner organisations.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate, non-judgemental approach and the ability to engage, motivate and empower individuals with diverse and complex needs.
