Our engineers are vital to the innovation and digitalization of BMW Group's driving machines, production, sales and banking processes, and you could be part of our evolving teams.What awaits youBeing a passionate Platform engineer, you care about defining tech stack for business applications together with our team of software architectsBuild and evolve a cloud-native platform running on Azure, serving multiple product teamsDesign and maintain Kubernetes-based infrastructureDevelop and extend the platform operator - a custom Kubernetes operator that manages application lifecycle, status reporting, error handling, and reconciliation logicAuthor and maintain Helm charts and Terraform modules for provisioning Azure resourcesWork on the sidecar architecture - configure routing, CORS, proxy ports, path rewrites, external service integration, and direct responsesContribute and operate to the authentication and authorization layerContribute and maintain the observability stack, Grafana-basedMaintain and extend Azure resource modules and Azure Storage Account provisioningDevelop and improve the App Catalog - an internal service registry with frontend and backend components, statistics, mail notifications, and automated update jobsEnable and maintain schema-driven configuration handbooks, onboarding automation, and application scaffoldingContribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing sessions, and platform-wide improvements across multiple product teamsWorking in an Agile team using Scrum methodology and their derivatives (SaFE, LeSS)Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and other Agile/Scrum ceremonies to ensure high-quality deliverables and on-time project completionEnd-to-end responsibility for application developmentStay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously improve skills and contribute to the team's successWhat should you bring alongUniversity Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business or a related field3+ years of experience on a similar role is requiredAdvanced knowledge of OOP, Algorithms & Data StructuresSolid experience with KubernetesHands-on experience with Azure cloud services, particularly:Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server (including backup/restore strategies)Azure Storage AccountsAzure resource provisioning and management across multiple environmentsStrong proficiency in Terraform for Infrastructure as CodeExperience with Helm chartsSolid understanding of GitOps principles and deployment workflows (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux, or GitHub Actions-based GitOps)Experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally GitHub ActionsGood understanding of networking and proxy configurationExperience with authentication and authorization flowsFamiliarity with observability and telemetry*stacks: Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, TempoNice to have:Experience in development with Java SE 17+Experience with operator patterns in Kubernetes (custom controllers, reconciliation logic, error handling)Good understanding of software design principles, design patterns, and best practicesExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailExcellent English verbal and written skillsGerman communication skills will be a plusWhat do we offer?• Challenging projects with which we are shaping the mobility of tomorrow• Great team spirit within an international team• State-of-the-art global IT landscape and processes• 100% implementation of the Agile Working Model methodology• Wide range of personal & professional development opportunities• High level of job security• Work-Life-Balance and flexible working hoursAt BMW TechWorks, we view diversity and inclusion in all its forms as a cornerstone of our team's strength.
