What You'll Be Doing
An Aftermarket Sales Representative acts as a proactive partner to farmers and agricultural operations. Instead of waiting for a machine to break down, this role leverages John Deere's digital tools (like JDLink™ and the John Deere Operations Center) to analyze telematics data, recommend preventative maintenance packages, upsell precision ag upgrades, and optimize a dealership’s parts and service revenue.
Responsibilities
- Data-Driven Customer Support: Monitor connected machine data (telematics) to identify parts wear, upcoming service intervals, or system alerts, and proactively contact customers with service solutions.
- Aftermarket Program Sales: Sell preventative maintenance agreements (e.g., John Deere Protect™ or Expert Alerts), parts programs, and machine optimization inspections.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with the Parts Manager, Service Manager, and Integrated Solutions (Precision Ag) teams to create unified, lifecycle support plans for local growers.
- Technology Adoption: Train and assist customers on how to use John Deere technology features to improve machine uptime, fuel efficiency, and field execution.
- Marketing & Promotions: Execute seasonal marketing campaigns and parts promotions tailored to specific farming cycles (planting, harvesting, spraying).
Qualifications
- Industry Knowledge: Robust understanding of agricultural equipment operations, regional farming practices, and dealership parts/service processes.
- Technical Savvy: High familiarity with the John Deere ecosystem, including the Operations Center, diagnostic tools, and machine telematics.
- Sales & Communication: Strong relationship-building skills to transition technical data into clear, cost-saving business recommendations for farmers.
- Education: Often prefers a background or degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Systems Technology, or Business Administration.
