About this role

Join the power movement as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented, innovative, and results-driven Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality across the production line. You will be the magnet owner, holding overall accountability for this shift. This role involves close collaboration with design engineers, production staff, quality assurance, and supply chain teams.

What you'll do:

- Provide hands-on manufacturing engineering support for production operations across the line, including fabrication, welding, inspection, instrumentation, and cryogenic testing

- Troubleshoot process, equipment, and quality issues, and decide when to hold or stop work to protect product and people

- Verify and buy off work station setups against the process plan, including hardware configuration, tooling, and torque sequences

- Disposition nonconformances and lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations

- Own work instruction and process plan accuracy in the manufacturing execution system (MES): redline steps, resolve blocked operations, and capture lessons from the floor so knowledge lives in controlled documents

- Coordinate with NDT, welders, technicians, controls, equipment, analysis, and quality teams to resolve issues quickly and safely

- Support changes in product configurations, including updated process plans, tooling, and work instructions

- Collaborate with the other third shift engineers to share coverage, align on decisions, and keep work moving

- Maintain clear shift handoffs and documentation so work continues smoothly across all three shifts

- Train and support production technicians on work instructions, processes, equipment, and best practices

- Drive continuous improvement in throughput, turnaround time, and first-pass quality

- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards

What we're looking for:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role, ideally supporting complex hardware, test stands, or quality-critical production

- Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation, including GD&T

- Sound judgment on third shift: confident making real-time engineering decisions within established guardrails, and knowing when to stop work and escalate

- Excellent written and verbal communication, including clear shift handoffs and documentation

- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes (RCCA, 8D, or similar) and nonconformance management

- Experience with a manufacturing execution system (MES) or electronic work instructions and work ordersHands-on troubleshooting skills for electro-mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition or controls systems

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, including coordinating with fellow engineers on shift, and manage multiple priorities

- Root cause analysis and nonconformance management

- MES and work instruction use

- Equipment and instrumentation troubleshooting

- Reading engineering drawings and GD&T

- Clear written and verbal communication

Bonus points for:

- Experience with superconducting magnets, HTS tape or cable, or cryogenic hardware

- Experience with welding processes (laser or TIG) and weld inspection methods (VT, RT, UT), or NDT certification

- Experience running or supporting a cryogenic test stand, or high-current or high-voltage test equipment

- Experience with instrumentation such as voltage taps, cryogenic temperature sensors, or fiber optic sensing, and with data acquisition and time-series tools

- Experience with Manufacturo, Odoo, Jira, or similar MES, quality, and ticketing systems

- Experience with NX or similar CAD software

- Proficiency in work instruction writing, process mapping, and capacity modeling

- Familiarity with Python or similar tools for reviewing test data

- High self-motivation and drive to execute quickly with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

- Welding and NDT (VT, RT, UT)

- Cryogenic and high-current test experience

- Instrumentation and data acquisition tools

- Python

Must-have requirements:

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

- Perform activities such as typing, standing, stooping, and sitting, for extended periods of time

- Required safety training (lockout/tagout, cryogenic safety, laser and radiation area awareness); lifting is mostly crane-assisted per lift plan

- Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, and cryogenics

- Willingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call
