Our portfolio includes SQL, Azure Cosmos DB, DocumentDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL, supporting developers as they build AI native applications and run critical workloads at global scale.</span> </span></p></div><div><p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span>We are hiring a Software Engineer to join the Azure Cosmos DB Gateway team, where you will work on the critical front-end data plane that powers one of the largest globally distributed database services in the world. <br> <br>The Gateway sits on the request path between customers and Azure Cosmos DB, processing trillions of requests every day across hundreds of clusters worldwide. Our team owns the scalability, availability, performance, and operational excellence of this infrastructure and is building the next generation of the Cosmos DB Gateway to significantly increase throughput, reduce latency, improve resiliency, and lower infrastructure cost.</span> </span></p></div><div><p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">We do not just value differences or different perspectives. As a result, our customers are better served. </span></p></div><br><br><b>Responsibilities</b><br><div><ul><li>Design and build highly available, high-performance distributed systems that operate at massive scale.</li><li>Work on building infrastructure for Cosmos DB gateway applications.</li><li>Work on request routing, connection management, networking, caching, load balancing, resource management, service reliability, and performance optimization for Cosmos DB workloads running in gateway mode.</li><li>Dive deep into Azure technologies and distributed database systems.</li><li>Collaborate with partners, internal and external to Azure Cosmos DB organization, to design and build features that drive service growth.</li><li>Influence and create new designs, architectures, standards and methods for large-scale distributed systems.</li><li>Build reusable libraries of services practices for other teams to leverage.</li><li>Work in a culture of continuous improvement, adaptation, reflection, and growth.</li></ul></div><div><p>Other:</p><ul type="disc"><li>Embody our <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/about/corporate-values">Culture </a>and <a href="https://careers.microsoft.com/us/en/culture">Values</a></li></ul><p> </p></div><br><br><b>Qualifications</b><br><div><p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Required Qualifications </strong></span></p></div><div><ul><li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span>Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python </span></span><ul><li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span>OR equivalent experience.</span> </span></li></ul></li></ul><div><p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Other Job Requirements: </strong> </span></p></div><div><p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
