About this role

Description

Do you want to be part of the fastest-growing business at Amazon? Amazon customers are buying their groceries on Amazon.com, from fresh produce and dairy to pantry staples, and the fulfillment network behind that experience is scaling fast. This role owns the economics of that transformation.

This role will be part of the Grocery Fulfillment Finance team responsible for long-range financial planning, strategic investment analytics, and operational modeling. You will lead strategic initiatives such as grocery expansion, network growth, and new program evaluation across the fulfillment ecosystem. You will partner across multiple teams: Grocery FCs, Grocery DCs, Tech, and Finance and Accounting. You will bring a consultant's lens: synthesizing existing models, stress-testing assumptions, and translating complex financial dynamics into clear strategic recommendations.

You will not be building from scratch. You will be inheriting a sophisticated planning foundation and making it better. You will own the long-range view: refining savings entitlement models, sharpening financial glidepaths, benchmarking actuals against plan, and surfacing the "so what" that drives leadership decisions at the VP and SVP level.

Key job responsibilities
- Own short and long-range financial planning and entitlement modeling across the Grocery Fulfillment network, including annual operating plans and 3-year and 10-year cost-to-serve glidepaths
- Build and maintain forecasting models that connect operational inputs (volume, productivity, network topology) to financial outcomes across cost lines including freight, variable cost, fixed cost, delivery, and shipping supplies
- Develop and stress-test savings entitlements for automation, technology, and operational improvement initiatives; translate project-level assumptions into P&L impact
- Partner with Ops, Tech, and cross-functional Finance teams to align on plan assumptions, validate rate builds, and ensure end-to-end financial integrity from investment thesis through to P&L realization
- Benchmark actuals against plan across planning cycles (OP1, OP2, guidance); identify structural vs. timing-driven variances and surface clear recommendations to leadership
- Support senior leadership review cycles by preparing financial narratives, bridges, and variance analysis at the VP and SVP level
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to business leads: synthesizing complex cost dynamics, flagging risks, and framing the "so what" that drives planning decisions
- Maintain planning infrastructure including scenario models, input tracking tools, and reporting cadences that connect investment to financial outcomes

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, tax, economics, or a related analytical field

Preferred Qualifications

- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
