- Support long-term asset strategies, replacement planning, refurbishment programmes and capital prioritisation for shaft, hoist and critical underground equipment and infrastructure.
- Conduct or oversee technical assurance activities to verify equipment and infrastructure integrity against relevant regulatory, statutory, operational and engineering requirements.
- Facilitate investigations into significant mechanical failures and incidents, diagnosing root causes and formulating corrective actions to prevent recurrence and provide direct subject matter expert input and support to site led failure and incident investigations related to mechanical systems, delivering technical guidance and solutions to address critical risks.

##### Prerequisites for Success in This Role

- A bachelor's degree as a minimum; a master's degree in an area of speciality is desired.
- Deep technical expertise in mine shaft and hoisting systems, including hoist plants, winding systems, ropes, conveyances, shaft furniture, guides, headframes and loading and unloading infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of underground mining infrastructure design and integrity, including shaft-related mechanical and structural systems, civil and geotechnical interfaces, operational constraints and critical failure modes.
- Expertise in inspection, maintenance and integrity management for shaft and hoist assets, together with strong competence in risk and critical control management.
- Working knowledge of shaft and hoist regulations, mining legislation and applicable engineering standards, combined with the ability to collaborate, build stakeholder relationships and influence or negotiate to achieve productive outcomes.
