The role requires extensive experience in medium-voltage switching, Senior Authorised Person responsibilities and energy isolation within data centre construction, commissioning and live operational environments.

You will work closely with construction, commissioning, safety and operations teams to support safe execution and minimise disruption to existing facilities.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include:

- Verifying that contractor procedures and site practices meet client safety specifications, NFPA 70E and other applicable project standards.
- Reviewing and auditing Permit-to-Work systems, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures, isolation plans and their implementation.
- Supporting the planning and coordination of isolations for construction and commissioning, including Level 1, 2 and 3 High Risk Activity planning under the client’s framework.
- Coordinating with operations teams where planned isolations could affect live data centre systems or business continuity.
- Supporting General Contractor Authorised Persons in implementing isolation procedures, standards and controls.
- Reviewing single-line diagrams, electrical schematics and redundancy arrangements to assess the completeness and effectiveness of proposed isolations.
- Supporting coordination of concurrent isolation activities across multiple projects on the same campus.
- Working with Commissioning Managers to verify that commissioning activities meet the required energy isolation standards.
- Liaising with client safety teams and providing specialist technical guidance before and during isolation works.
- Supporting the response to non-standard situations, including LOTO device removal, cable strikes, isolation deviations and emergencies, in accordance with approved procedures and authorisations.
- Contributing to incident investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and experience

We require:

- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Extensive experience in medium-voltage switching operations.
- Extensive experience as a Senior Authorised Person responsible for electrical distribution systems and switching activities.
- Strong experience in data centre construction and commissioning.
- A thorough understanding of energy isolation, Permit-to-Work and LOTO arrangements within live operational facilities.
- Experience managing and coordinating multiple energy sources in mission-critical environments.
- Demonstrable experience auditing site activities and verifying compliance against written standards and procedures.
- Strong ability to interpret single-line diagrams, electrical schematics and system redundancy arrangements.
- Proven ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders and drive improvements.
- Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences.

Personal qualities

You are technically thorough, structured and confident in exercising independent judgement. You can challenge inadequate arrangements constructively, communicate risks clearly and maintain effective cooperation across contractors, commissioning teams and operations.

- An initial full-time phase of approximately 18 months, starting in May 2027.
- An intermediate phase requiring approximately half a day per week, with its duration to be confirmed.
- A final full-time phase of approximately six months.
