Job Summary
The Manager of Generation Development leads a team responsible for executing the Company’s generation growth strategy, with a primary focus on the development and deployment of new nuclear power generation projects. The Manager leads nuclear development opportunities from early-stage evaluation through project definition and execution, including site identification and development, technology and vendor evaluation, licensing and permitting strategy, project economics and business case development, regulatory approvals, commercial negotiations, and overall project risk management.
An important and exciting aspect of the role is proactively identifying and creating new siting and development opportunities for nuclear generation. This includes evaluating opportunities at military installations, governmental facilities, industrial and other strategic locations, as well as traditional generation sites. The Manager builds collaborative relationships with military installations, governmental entities, property owners, potential customers, technology providers, and other stakeholders to evaluate sites, establish development partnerships, and create commercial and project structures that align host-site objectives with the Company’s generation needs.
The Manager directs and integrates the commercial, technical, environmental, licensing, regulatory, financial, and siting workstreams necessary to advance projects through key development milestones. Responsibilities include assessing nuclear technologies and vendors; leading economic and financial evaluations; establishing development strategies and schedules; securing site control and infrastructure arrangements; and identifying and managing project risks. The Manager works across internal organizations and with external advisors and counterparties to translate early-stage opportunities into well-defined, executable generation projects.
A significant responsibility of the position is leading the regulatory strategy and filings necessary to obtain approval for early-stage new nuclear development investments. The Manager coordinates the development of regulatory applications and supporting materials, works closely with legal, regulatory, finance, engineering, and other internal organizations, and serves as a Company subject-matter expert in regulatory proceedings involving proposed nuclear development and generation investments. This includes supporting testimony, discovery, hearings, and other aspects of regulatory cases and clearly articulating project need, economics, development strategy, risks, and customer benefits to regulators and other stakeholders.
The Manager prepares project recommendations and investment proposals for senior management and leads or supports the negotiation and execution of agreements necessary to advance new nuclear projects. These may include nuclear technology and project deployment agreements, development partnerships, arrangements with governmental and military entities, infrastructure and utility agreements, site control and land rights, and other critical commercial arrangements.
