About this role
FSS Technologies is hiring a Deficiencies and Compliance Quoter in the Ypsilanti, Michigan area to turn inspection findings into clear, accurate repair proposals. When our inspectors find something that isn’t working or isn’t up to code, you price the fix, explain it to the customer, and help get it approved and scheduled. If you are organized, good with numbers, know fire protection systems, and can explain why a repair matters, we want to talk to you.

Position Overview
The Deficiencies and Compliance Quoter reviews fire alarm, fire sprinkler, and other life safety inspection reports, builds quotes to correct the deficiencies found, presents proposals to customers, and follows up until the work is approved and handed off to our service team. This role is the link between what our inspectors find and the repairs that bring our customers’ systems back into compliance.
Key Responsibilities

- Build accurate quotes for corrective work, including scope, parts, labor hours, lifts or other equipment, after-hours rates, and permit fees.
- Tie each quoted item to the code or standard that applies (such as NFPA 25 or NFPA 72) so customers understand what needs to be fixed and why.
- Prepare and send clear, professional proposals to customers, and answer their questions about scope, pricing, and timing.
- Follow up on open proposals until the customer approves, declines, or requests changes, and record the outcome.
- Help customers understand any deadlines set by the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) or their insurance carrier for correcting deficiencies.
- Work with inspectors and service technicians to clarify findings, gather photos or measurements, and arrange site visits when needed.
- Confirm pricing and lead times with purchasing and suppliers so quotes are current and accurate.
- Hand off approved work to service scheduling with a complete scope of work, customer purchase order, and parts list.
- Track open deficiencies, quote status, and approval rates, and report results to leadership.
- Keep accurate records in our service, quoting, and customer management software.
- Follow all company policies, including pricing and approval guidelines.
