About this role

Description

Are you energized by solving complex technical challenges that span multiple teams and systems? Do you thrive when turning ambiguity into clear plans and measurable outcomes?

The Secure Connection Services (SCS) Edge Connectivity Services (ECS) Team is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to own and drive AWS Region expansion programs across the AWS Networking family of services. You will enable dedicated network connectivity options for our U.S. National Security and Department of War customers to AWS Classified regions. You will also work with Defense Industrial Base (DIB) customers to support and expand Amazon's new launched AWS Secret Cloud for Industry (ASCI) service which enables dedicated connectivity to the AWS Secret Region for industry partners. You will build mechanisms and processes to automate and streamline the customer experience, working across AWS engineering, networking, and security teams to simplify access to the AWS classified (Secret and Top Secret) regions.

The Senior Technical Program Manager will own and drive cross-functional programs that have considerable business impact. In this role, you will define program strategy, align stakeholders across engineering and business teams, and deliver results at scale. You will use your technical depth to question assumptions, assess architectural decisions, and ensure the right solutions ship on time. If you are a collaborative, data-driven problem solver who communicates with clarity and builds trust across all levels, we want to hear from you.

This position requires that the candidate selected must be a US Citizen and currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities
- Define and manage the lifecycle of complex cross-functional programs, setting clear objectives, success criteria, and roadmaps that align with organizational goals
- Drive alignment across business and technical stakeholders by facilitating crisp decision-making, providing context for technology choices, and prioritizing initiatives based on customer and business impact
- Identify and mitigate risks proactively by overseeing gaps between teams, processes, and system architectures, reducing exposure to common failure modes such as unclear requirements or insufficient testing
- Leverage your technical judgment to evaluate proposals, test assumptions, and make smart trade-offs between time, effort, and feature scope while partnering with engineering leaders to ensure solutions scale appropriately
- Communicate program progress and outcomes effectively through written narratives and executive presentations, building consensus when perspectives differ and escalating with good judgment when needed
- Partner with Business, Product, and Technology Leaders and teams to deliver value for our customers
- Drive visibility and transparency of dates, milestones, and schedule throughout the customer onboarding process
- Build inclusive relationships with partner groups in AWS Region Services, Networking and the World Wide Public Sector teams. Ensuring that these teams focus on our customers and support customer missions

A day in the life
You might start your morning reviewing program metrics and identifying areas that need attention before joining a cross-team sync to unblock a critical dependency. By midafternoon, you could be drafting a narrative that frames a key trade-off for senior leadership, then pivoting to a design review where you pressure-test architectural assumptions with engineers. You will regularly connect with stakeholders across the organization, ensuring priorities stay aligned and your program delivers meaningful results.

The Edge Connectivity Services (ECS) team is focused on building and improving the technology systems that power Amazon's operations at global scale. We value collaboration, clear communication, and a willingness to tackle hard problems together. You will work alongside engineers, product managers, and business leaders who are committed to delivering impactful solutions for our customers. We are investing in new capabilities and looking for a program leader who is excited to help shape our technical direction in the years ahead.
