About this role
About the company
Keka is a modern people platform for growing enterprises. HR, payroll and talent live in one core system, so teams spend less time on admin and more time on their people. More than 12,500 companies trust Keka, from fast-growing small businesses to large enterprises and global companies with teams across borders. We build software the way HR actually works. It feels human, sets up in days instead of months, and has AI built into every part of HR. With customers across India, the US and the Middle East, our engineering team is growing fast to keep up. That is where this role comes in.
About the role
As a Visual / UI Designer at Keka, you’ll lead the visual side of Keka’s UI upgrade across web and mobile. You’ll take existing screens and new designs and turn them into polished, balanced and consistent experiences that feel unmistakably Keka. You’ll work closely with Product Designers, the Design System team and Frontend Engineers to refine layout, hierarchy, spacing, typography and visual details across the product. Success means creating high-quality interfaces that are clear, accessible, responsive and consistent, while building a visual system that can scale across Keka’s growing product.
What you’ll do
- Lead the visual work on UI upgrade projects by auditing existing screens, identifying visual inconsistencies and redesigning them module by module
- Take wireframes and flows from Product Designers and turn them into high-fidelity screens with clear hierarchy, consistent spacing, strong alignment and visual balance
- Own Keka’s visual language across colour, typography, spacing, iconography, illustration and elevation, applying it consistently across web and mobile
- Design high-fidelity UI for new features and redesigns across every important state, including empty, loading, error, success and permission states
- Build and maintain design system components in Figma, including variants, variables, tokens and documentation that engineers can implement directly
- Design micro-interactions, motion and moments of delight that feel human while remaining performant on low-end devices and slower networks
- Design accessible experiences aligned with WCAG 2.1 AA, including appropriate contrast, touch targets, readable typography and layouts that work well for frontline and blue-collar employees using smaller Android devices
- Design interfaces that work across languages and countries, accounting for longer translated text, different number and date formats and right-to-left languages
- Partner closely with Frontend Engineers to ensure what ships matches the design and review builds before release
- Use AI tools in your workflow for exploring options, generating assets and prototyping while maintaining strong design judgement and quality standards
- Contribute to marketing and brand touchpoints when required, including product screenshots, launch visuals and in-app announcements
What you’ll bring
- 3 to 6 years of experience designing digital product UI, with shipped work in SaaS, B2B or complex web products
- Strong visual craft across hierarchy, typography, colour, alignment, spacing and visual balance, with the ability to identify and resolve visual issues in dense interfaces
- Advanced Figma skills, including auto layout, components, variants, variables, tokens and well organized files that other designers can easily work with
- Hands-on design system experience, including building or maintaining components rather than only using existing systems
- Experience designing dense, data-heavy interfaces such as tables, forms, dashboards and settings without compromising clarity or information density
- Working knowledge of accessibility and how designs translate into production, including responsive layouts, interaction states and understanding of implementation constraints
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain design decisions clearly to Product Managers, Designers and Engineers and work effectively through feedback
- A distinct visual point of view and the ability to bring original thinking rather than copying patterns from popular products
- Experience designing across multiple screen sizes and platforms, with a strong understanding of responsive behavior and mobile interfaces
Nice to have
- Motion design experience using tools such as Lottie, Rive or Figma prototyping, with an understanding of performance considerations
- Icon or illustration design experience, including building or extending an icon set
- Experience with design tokens and design-to-code workflows, including familiarity with HTML/CSS or React
- Experience designing for HR, payroll, fintech or other enterprise products
- Experience designing for mobile-first or low-literacy users, or products used across multiple languages and countries
What your portfolio should show
- At least one before-and-after redesign of an existing product, showing what you changed and why
- The options and trade-offs you explored and the reasoning behind the final direction
- Attention to details such as states, edge cases, responsive behavior and accessibility, not only the primary or hero screen
- Evidence of system thinking through components, tokens or
