About this role
As the Production Control Sr. Process Engineer, you are responsible for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of internal material logistics to manufacturing lines with respect to safety, efficiency, cost and quality. Through true cross-departmental collaboration, our process engineers design and implement conveyance methods, manpower requirements, equipment needs, lineside layouts, warehouse layouts and replenishment methods to convey raw material effectively and safely to the line. However, our job only begins with the design. Through a continuous feedback loop with our operations team, we constantly evaluate and improve our processes to streamline material flow by eliminating non-value-added activities. This never-ending persistence for excellence is a core value to our team and essential to achieving a World Class Manufacturing system.
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Production Process Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Logistics, Planning, and Factory Software to design and improve material flow
Analyze operating system data to develop and maintain PFEP (Plan For Every Part)
Conduct warehouse capacity analysis against safety and cycle stock to confirm pallet storage space
Execute warehouse layouts that optimize material flow and implement visual 5T signage
Design sequencing, kitting, Just-In-Sequence, and Just-In-Time solutions to meet production needs
Collaborate with Manufacturing and Production Engineers on CAD/Revit lineside presentation layouts that are ergonomic and sized to conveyance cycle times
Calculate manpower at varying vehicle output rates and balance routes so Production Control is staffed to demand
Build static and dynamic simulation models to find bottlenecks and improve factory material flow
Configure Tesla’s Material Flow System (MFS) so systematic process steps match physical processes
Develop standard work from receiving through put away, conveyance, returnables, and recycling, and improve current-state processes for efficiency, safety, cost, and productivity
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
4+ years in material flow, process, continuous improvement, supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing engineering
Proven experience designing and implementing material flow for new manufacturing line launches
