About this role
Job Overview
We are building the software infrastructure for next-generation AI inference and compute platforms at Arm. Our work spans distributed systems, model serving, workload orchestration, and the infrastructure needed to run AI workloads reliably and efficiently at scale.
We are looking for experienced, hands-on engineers who enjoy solving difficult technical problems and building complex software systems. You will take ownership of significant platform capabilities, make technical decisions, and work with engineers across Arm to develop new infrastructure from the ground up.
We are an AI-native engineering team. We actively use AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows throughout the software development lifecycle, while maintaining high standards for correctness, testing, and software quality.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement distributed infrastructure for AI inference, including model serving, request routing, workload scheduling, and resource management.
- Build reliable, high-performance software, solving problems involving concurrency, networking, scalability, data consistency, and failure recovery.
- Own software capabilities end to end, from evaluating design options and writing code to testing, deployment, debugging, and ongoing improvements.
- Investigate system bottlenecks through profiling, benchmarking, and diagnostics. Improve latency, throughput, resource efficiency, and reliability.
- Use and extend AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows to improve engineering productivity, with appropriate testing, verification, and code review.
- Collaborate with engineers across Arm on architecture, interfaces, and technical decisions. Contribute to code reviews, engineering practices, and the development of a growing team.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building complex software systems, with demonstrated technical depth, ownership, and impact.
- Strong programming skills in C++, Go, Rust, Python, or comparable languages, with solid foundations in algorithms, data structures, and software design.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, including concurrency, networking, service interfaces, state management, and fault tolerance.
- Experience developing and debugging software on Linux, cloud infrastructure, or container-based environments, with an understanding of system performance and reliability.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools, including evaluating, debugging, and validating AI-generated code.
- Strong problem-solving skills, sound technical judgment, and the ability to work independently through unfamiliar or ambiguous engineering problems.
- We are considering candidates at both Senior and Staff levels. Senior engineers should demonstrate strong technical execution and ownership of complex components. Staff engineers should also demonstrate the ability to lead significant technical designs, make architectural tradeoffs, and influence engineering decisions across teams.
Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience
- Experience with AI inference infrastructure, LLM serving, distributed compute, or ML platforms, including batching, caching, or model execution.
- Experience with Kubernetes, distributed scheduling, resource orchestration, or infrastructure that manages workloads across compute environments.
- Experience with performance profiling, benchmarking, distributed tracing, and diagnosing complex system behavior.
- Experience building developer tools, automated testing infrastructure, CI/CD systems, or agentic development workflows.
- Prior AI inference experience is valuable but not required for engineers with strong distributed systems backgrounds.
In Return
Youll have opportunities to build Arms next-generation AI inference infrastructure from the ground up, take ownership of significant platform capabilities, and collaborate with engineers across Arm. The role offers scope to influence technical design, deepen your expertise in distributed systems and AI-native development, and grow your technical impact while tackling complex challenges in performance, scalability and reliability.

Use of AI in Your Application
At Arm, we embrace the benefits AI can bring, including in recruitment. You may use AI to support your preparation, such as improving the clarity of written responses, practicing interview questions, or learning more about our industry. However, your application and interview responses must reflect your own thinking, experience, and abilities. We want to understand your authentic perspective, creativity, and approach to problem solving. As such, you may not use AI to complete assigned tasks as part of any assessments. If you plan to use AI-supported or assistive technologies as part of a reasonable adjustment, please contact [email protected] so we can support you.
Recruitment Adjustments and Accommodations
At Arm, we want to build extraordinary teams. If you need an adjustment or an accommodation during the recruitment process, please email [email protected] . To note, by sending us the requested information, you consent to its use by Arm to arrange for appropriate accommodations. All accommodation or adjustment requests will be treated with confidentiality, and information concerning these requests will only be disclosed as necessary to provide the accommodation. Although this is not an exhaustive list, examples of support include breaks between interviews, having documents read aloud, or office accessibility. Please email us about anything we can do to accommodate you during the recruitment process.
Hybrid Working
Arm’s approach to hybrid working is designed to create a working environment that supports both high performance and personal wellbeing. We believe in bringing people together face to face to enable us to work at pace, whilst recognizing the value of flexibility. Within that framework, we empower groups/teams to determine their own hybrid working patterns, depending on the work and the team’s needs. Details of what this means for each role will be shared upon application. In some cases, the flexibility we can offer is limited by local legal, regulatory, tax, or other considerations, and where this is the case, we will collaborate with you to find the best solution.
