Power Platform Technical Architect

We are looking for a Power Platform Technical Architect to lead the technical side of a four-week discovery into service-desk and chatbot options. You will assess Microsoft capabilities, design the target architecture and make sure every option is secure, supportable and fit for a government technology environment.

What you will do

- Set the technical architecture approach and decision framework for the discovery.
- Assess Power Platform and related Microsoft capabilities for form intake, workflow, queue management, service levels, dashboards, chatbot interactions and escalation.
- Evaluate Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, Power Pages, Power BI, Dynamics 365 Customer Service and Microsoft Copilot Studio where appropriate.
- Assess integration options with identity and access management, content, document, notification and reporting services.
- Define the data model for requests, users, documents, queues, statuses, service levels, approvals, escalation and audit history.
- Assess data classification, retention, privacy, accessibility, security, environment management and operational support needs.
- Define how development, test and production environments, managed solutions, connection references and deployment pipelines should be used.
- Keep prototype decisions proportionate to a short discovery while providing credible evidence of feasibility.
- Guide developers on solution structure, non-functional requirements and reusable design patterns.
- Identify constraints, dependencies, risks and decisions that require stakeholder input.
- Support effort estimates, delivery phasing, licensing considerations and the skills needed for implementation.

Expected outputs

- Technical option assessment.
- Architecture and integration views.
- Data, security and environment governance recommendations.
- Technical feasibility evidence for the prototypes.
- Documented architecture risks, constraints and dependencies.
- Indicative implementation architecture, delivery phases and technical resource profile.

What you will bring

- Extensive experience designing enterprise solutions on Microsoft Power Platform.
- Deep knowledge of Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse.
- Strong experience in workflow, case management, service-desk or conversational service architecture.
- Experience integrating Microsoft cloud services with enterprise identity, data, document management and reporting platforms.
- Strong understanding of security architecture, role-based access control, data loss prevention, auditability and environment governance.
- Ability to assess low-code and custom development options and explain the trade-offs.
- Experience producing option assessments, architecture diagrams, technical risk assessments and delivery roadmaps.
- Proven technical leadership across a multidisciplinary discovery team.
- Experience in UK government, the public sector or another security-conscious, regulated environment.

Desirable

- Experience with Dynamics 365 Customer Service and Microsoft Copilot Studio.
- Knowledge of Azure services, Microsoft Entra ID, Power BI, SharePoint and Microsoft Purview.
- Microsoft certifications such as PL-600 (Power Platform Solution Architect Expert), PL-200 (Power Platform Functional Consultant Associate) or AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
- Familiarity with the GDS Service Standard, Technology Code of Practice and public sector security controls.
