About this role
About Foresight
Foresight's mission is to bring the world's critical infrastructure into service faster by better enabling teams to deliver complex capital projects.
The AI buildout runs on physical things: data centers, power, and the supply chains behind them. A single hyperscale campus involves an owner, a general contractor, dozens of trades, long-lead equipment suppliers, lenders and commissioning teams. Each works from its own schedule and its own spreadsheets. When a project slips, the people who could fix it usually find out last. For an AI data center, a month late can mean tens of millions in lost revenue.
Foresight is the control tower for these projects. We connect schedules, field progress and execution data across every party, forecast where delivery is heading, and help teams act before a delay becomes a missed date. On one 15-project portfolio, Foresight found a project 245 days behind, cut reporting overhead by 90%, and helped prevent more than $100M in lost revenue.
We work with top data-center owners, developers and general contractors across the world, including Crusoe, Applied Digital, and NTT. We raised a $25M Series A led by Macquarie Capital and are headquartered in New York.
The role
We're looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to build the cloud foundation that Foresight runs on.
You will design and run the infrastructure, delivery pipelines and observability that let every engineer ship safely and often. You will make the platform secure and compliant by default, so enterprise customers can trust it with their most important project data. This is a hands-on role on a new team, for someone who treats the platform as a product and measures success by how fast and safely others can ship on it.
At Foresight, the platform is a product, and our engineers are its customers. You make the right way to build, ship and run software also the easiest way. This could translate to work on:
- Cloud foundation: Design our AWS environments as code, from networking and compute to managed databases and storage, so any environment can be rebuilt from scratch with confidence.
- Delivery pipelines: Build CI/CD that takes a merged change to production safely, with automated tests, security scanning, preview environments and fast rollback.
- Observability on a budget: Build logging, metrics, tracing and alerting that show what every service is doing, without letting monitoring costs run away.
- Security and compliance by default: Build identity and access controls, secrets management, encryption and audit trails that meet enterprise standards such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
- Reliability at scale: Build autoscaling, backups, disaster recovery and incident response, and deploy in the regions our customers' data must stay in.
What you'll do
- Treat other engineers as your customers: build paved roads, templates and self-service tools they actually want to use.
- Keep the platform as simple as the problem allows.
- Automate everything that reaches production; no manual changes to live systems.
- Own cloud cost: make spend visible by service and customer, and keep it in line as we grow.
- Lead incident response and blameless postmortems, then fix the root cause so it doesn't happen twice.
- Help set the team's infrastructure standards and shape the platform as one of its first platform engineers.
Requirements
You might be a fit if you
- Have 5+ years of experience building and running production infrastructure on AWS, with ownership of uptime and cost.
- Are strong in infrastructure-as-code skills with Terraform, CDK or similar, including modules others reuse.
- Have experience running containerized services on AWS, such as ECS, EKS or Lambda, and knowing when each fits.
- Have built and owned CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing, deployment strategies and rollback.
- Are hands-on with observability: logs, metrics, traces, SLOs and alerting that people trust.
- Have solid grounding in cloud security: IAM least privilege, network design, secrets management and encryption.
- Are comfortable writing code in Python, Go or a similar language to build tooling and automation.
- Are calm and clear in communication during incidents and comfortable making pragmatic trade-offs on a small team.
Bonus points
- Hands-on with OpenTelemetry and open observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus or Loki.
- Prepared a company for SOC 2, ISO 27001 or similar audits, including automated evidence collection.
- Experience with GitOps, progressive delivery (canary or blue-green) and supply-chain security (image signing, SBOMs).
- Operated multi-region or data-residency deployments, including in regulated or public-sector environments.
- Experience running infrastructure for ML and AI workloads, including GPU or hosted model services.
- FinOps experience: cost allocation, rightsizing and savings plans.
- Early-stage or founding-team experience.
None of these are required. If the core of this role excites you, apply.
