About Our Organization: EnCompass: Resources for Learning is a nonprofit organization established in 2004 by families, educators, and community leaders to meet the needs of Rochester students. Today, EnCompass provides 2,400 students and their families, annually, with a cradle-to-career pathway of academic, wraparound, college and career-readiness, and job training and placement services.

Summary: As a member of the Future Ready team, the Youth Mentor supports middle and high school students as they chart their own paths to success. With a focus on positive youth development, youth mentors build trusting relationships with students, facilitate enrichments, and encourage active participation in program activities. The person in this role will help students build social-emotional skills, explore college and career interests, and develop post-secondary plans.

Job Responsibilities:

- Facilitate youth enrichments based on student interest as aligned with the programs objectives.

- Support with planning and set-up of student activities and enrichments.

- Supervise students. Model and encourage engagement and participation.

- Develop trusting, developmental relationships with students.

- Participate in and contribute to team meetings, including a weekly student report meeting.

- Chaperone off-site trips, including occasional weekend events and an annual multi-day overnight college tour.

- Assist with student recruitment by representing the Future Ready program at school and community events.

- Provide students with transportation to and from program, when necessary, using EnCompass vehicles.

- Support with meal service, when necessary.

- Participate in professional development, orientations, and student events.

- Perform other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Excellent judgment and student-centered mindset

- Effective communication skills, particularly as they relate to the development of trusting relationships with students and families

- Ability to collaborate with others from diverse backgrounds

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Smartboard technology

Minimum Qualifications:

- Associates degree or post-secondary training or education

- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with youth

- Valid drivers license

Schedule:

School Year:

- 10am – 6pm, M-R

- 8am – 4pm, F

Summer:

- 8am – 4pm, M-F

Salary:

- $19.02-24.13/hour based on relevant experience
