Job Summary:

Under the direction and supervision of the Print Shop Supervisor, the Print Shop Employee is responsible for operating digital printing and finishing equipment to produce a variety of printed materials for District schools and departments. This position ensures printing requests are completed accurately, efficiently, and according to established quality standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The position includes but is not limited to the following list of representative duties:

- Operate high-speed digital copiers, computers, and related printing and finishing equipment.

- Assist with prioritizing printing and duplication requests based on deadlines and District needs.

- Prepare and operate equipment for extended production runs and monitor equipment throughout the printing process.

- Review submitted materials and printing requests to ensure all necessary information and specifications are provided.

- Proofread and review completed work for accuracy, completeness, quality, and clarity.

- Ensure appropriate paper weights, paper sizes, printing processes, and finishing specifications are used for each job.

- Monitor work in progress and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and accuracy.

- Perform a variety of finishing tasks including cutting, collating, stapling, padding, drilling, hole punching, folding, assembling, and binding printed materials.

- Communicate with the Print Shop Supervisor and District staff regarding printing requests, timelines, and completed work.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

- Follow established health and safety procedures when operating equipment and working with print shop materials.

- Other duties as assigned.

Schedule:

- Typical schedule is M - F: 8 hours per day (specific schedule may vary based on need)

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Energetic, dependable, and committed to providing quality service to District schools and departments.

- Ability to operate computers, assigned software, digital copiers, and related printing equipment.

- Knowledge of basic office duplication and printing processes.

- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and meet established schedules and timelines.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors in printed materials.

- Good oral and written communication skills.

- Basic mathematics skills.

- Ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a team.

- Ability to follow health and safety regulations and safely operate equipment with moving parts.

- Ability to work in an environment with constant machine noise and exposure to print shop fumes.

- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, reach overhead and above the shoulders, and reach horizontally.

- Ability to use hands and fingers with sufficient dexterity to operate a variety of printing and finishing equipment.

- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Education and Experience:

- High school diploma required; some college preferred

- Previous experience in printing, reproduction, office equipment, or a similar environment is preferred
