JOB PURPOSE
This role focuses on the maintenance and repair of both diesel and electric vehicles, including developing preventive maintenance plans and resolving technical issues to ensure optimal fleet performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, practical troubleshooting skills, and experience in vehicle maintenance operations.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Vehicle Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel and electric vehicles, ensuring they are safe and operational.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system issues on various types of vehicles.
- Replace or repair defective parts, components, or systems as needed.
Preventive Maintenance Planning:
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for diesel and electric vehicles.
- Ensure timely inspections and servicing to minimize vehicle downtime and extend the fleet's lifespan.
- Maintain detailed maintenance records and track service history for all vehicles.
Technical Troubleshooting:
- Analyze vehicle performance issues and provide effective solutions.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve complex technical problems.
- Test vehicles after repairs to ensure issues have been resolved and performance meets required standards.
Fleet Management Support:
- Collaborate with the operations team to prioritize vehicle maintenance based on fleet usage and requirements.
- Ensure all vehicles comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Provide technical support and training to drivers on vehicle care and basic troubleshooting.
- Inventory and Parts Management:
- Monitor and manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability for maintenance and repair work.
- Work with suppliers to source high-quality parts and negotiate competitive pricing.
Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce safety procedures in all maintenance activities to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant safety and environmental regulations.
- Conduct periodic safety inspections of vehicles and maintenance facilities.
QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, including diesel and electric vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic) and diagnostic tools.
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairing technical issues in commercial vehicles.
- Proficiency in creating and implementing preventive maintenance plans.
- Good understanding of safety standards and regulations in vehicle maintenance.
