Location: Cocoa, Florida
Hourly Rate: Starts at $30.00/Hour (Higher rate available depending on Experience)
Shift: First Shift with oversight responsibilities for possible Second Shift

A leading structural steel fabrication company is seeking a motivated and experienced Paint/Blast/Loading Lead to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality, efficiency, and safety of our painting and loading operations while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
 
Position Summary:
 
The Paint/Blast/Loading Lead will oversee painting, sand blasting, and loading operations, ensuring adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules. This individual will work closely with management and other departments to coordinate operations, train team members, and maintain compliance with all safety and quality protocols. The role requires strong leadership skills and a hands-on approach to managing daily activities and achieving operational goals.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership

- Help interview and identify qualified or trainable candidates

- Train and support new employees in the paint department

- Assign work based on production and shipping priorities

- Provide consistent, professional, and fair leadership

- Support employee corrective action and progressive discipline when needed

- Promote a productive and cooperative work environment

Painting & Quality

- Oversee painting, sandblasting, and loading activities

- Make sure work follows project requirements, painting standards, and manufacturer specifications

- Complete required paint documentation each day

- Use gauges, meters, and testing equipment for daily quality and calibration checks

- Perform QA/QC inspections of finished work

- Address quality concerns and recommend process improvements

Shipping & Production

- Review load tickets for completeness and accuracy

- Ensure shipping information is entered correctly into production/shipping software

- Train employees on the software as needed

- Coordinate with logistics, production, and management to keep work moving efficiently

- Monitor daily schedules and make sure shipments meet required delivery dates

- Coordinate overtime and weekend work when necessary

Safety

- Enforce workplace safety procedures and company policies

- Make sure employees follow required safety practices

- Maintain a strong focus on safe operations throughout painting and loading activities

Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication painting and/or loading operations

- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience

- Strong knowledge of painting standards and quality-control procedures

- Familiarity with production/shipping software preferred

- Experience training and leading employees

- Strong organizational and time-management skills

- Ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and deadlines

- Excellent attention to detail

- Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality
