Overhead Crane Operator / Material Handler
Location: Cocoa Beach, FL
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shift: 1st Shift
Pay: Starting at $22.00/hour, higher depending on experience
Position Overview
Qualdoc is seeking a versatile Material Handler to support steel fabrication operations in both the shop and yard. This role involves moving and staging structural steel, operating material-handling equipment, assisting with production tasks, and supporting different areas of the operation as needed.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable handling a variety of responsibilities in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

- Operate overhead cranes to safely move structural steel and other heavy materials.

- Handle, move, load, unload, and stage materials throughout the shop and yard.

- Operate forklifts and Pettibone/telehandler equipment.

- Jockey trailers and assist with yard organization.

- Skid materials and prepare items for shipment.

- Operate machinery as needed to support production.

- Clean parts and materials to maintain production readiness.

- Help track and organize inventory, materials, and supplies.

- Work with outside crews and other departments to maintain an efficient workflow.

- Follow equipment operating procedures and all required safety practices.

- Maintain a clean and organized work area.

- Perform additional material-handling and production duties as needed.

- Maintain reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.

Qualifications

- Previous experience operating overhead cranes.

- Experience using telehandlers/Pettibone equipment.

- Material handling or warehouse experience preferred.

- Some experience working with structural steel.

- Ability to safely operate forklifts and other industrial equipment.

- Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions.

- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and adjust to changing priorities.

- Ability to lift and move heavy materials as required.

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Manufacturing or industrial experience is a plus.

- Willingness to learn new tasks and assist in different areas of the operation.
