About the Role:
The advisor will meet with undergraduate students during scheduled and walk-in appointments; communicates with undergraduate students on advising issues; participates in Master Advising professional development training; generates and disseminates student reports; works with myNKU/SAP system to review student information and help students register for classes; and serves on committees within the College of Education and across the university.
- Provide academic advising to students majoring in the College of Education
undergraduate programs
- Engage in professional communication (i.e., fact-to-face meetings, email, phone calls, Zoom, etc.) with undergraduate students on advising issues and questions
- Participate in professional collaboration with other advisors and colleagues
in the College of Education
- Provide assistance to students with regard to placement, transfer, graduation, certification and other degree-path issues to ensure student success
- Collaborate with colleagues on admissions, orientation, recruitment and retention events sponsored by Academic Affairs and Student Affairs
- Prepare advising files for students ready to enter student teaching that will be reviewed by the Director of Educational Placements
- Generate and disseminate data reports from myNKU/SAP, Navigate, Watermark SLL and other university sources of information
- Serve on College of Education and NKU committees as appropriate to the duties/responsibilities of the position
Bachelor's degree required; preferred qualifications are a master's degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling, Communication, Education or other academic discipline with experience in academic advising.
Minimum of two years academic advising experience in a higher education setting preferred. Applicants must list a minimum of three references as well as a resume and cover letter.
