Physical Architect
Sterling Heights, MI
$48.99 - $54.75/Hour

We are hiring a Physical Architect to support military vehicle design, CAD integration, physical architecture, space claim development, interface definition, and Product Structure/EBOM activities in a defense engineering environment. This role requires experience with Teamcenter, Vis-Mockup, and CAD tools such as NX, CREO, and/or SpaceClaim to perform interference and clearance analysis, maintain CAD master models, support engineering design reviews, and coordinate vehicle subsystem interfaces.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and evaluate physical architecture and vehicle design concepts, including space allocations and potential impacts of design decisions.
- Develop and maintain CAD Master Model and interface assemblies.
- Develop and maintain vehicle space claims for static conditions, dynamic conditions, sway, shot lines, and keep-out zones.
- Perform system and component interference and clearance analysis and document results, impacts, and recommended solutions.
- Identify critical subsystem interfaces and coordinate interface definitions with engineering organizations and vendors.
- Develop and support vehicle Product Structure and preliminary Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM).
- Support concurrent engineering reviews, technical reviews, concept design reviews, drawing sign-off, and internal/external checkpoint reviews.
- Support trial fits and military vehicle builds.
- Support development of Interface Control Drawings (ICDs), Class & Division drawings, installation drawings, General Assembly Drawings, Appurtenance Drawings, and Turret & Hull Weldment drawings.
- Coordinate with Program Office, Design Engineering, Systems Engineering, Logistics, Vetronics, Manufacturing, Design Services, vendors, and U.S. Government (USG) stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Must meet applicable U.S. citizenship/security clearance eligibility requirements; non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with Teamcenter and Vis-Mockup.
- Knowledge of CAD tools including NX, CREO, and/or SpaceClaim.
- Ability to climb on/off and work in and around military vehicles.
- Ability to pass the Anthropometric Size Requirement (ASR) test for confined-space work.
- Ability to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.
- Ability to travel more than 25% as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3–5+ years of experience in a related physical architecture, mechanical design, vehicle integration, or engineering role.
- Previous defense industry experience.
- Experience applying continuous improvement processes and methodologies.
