Systems Engineer

Digital Signal Processing | Space Systems

Scottsdale, AZ | Remote

Pay Estimated: $64.60 - $69.60/Hour

We are hiring a Systems Engineer specializing in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and space-based systems to support the development and integration of advanced hardware and software solutions. This role focuses on DSP algorithm development, MATLAB, statistical signal analysis, Detection & Estimation Theory, Random Processes Analysis, Communications and Information Theory, radar processing, RF signal effects, and systems engineering for space and payload applications.

Responsibilities:

- Support systems engineering activities for space-based systems incorporating digital signal processing algorithms implemented in hardware and software.

- Develop and analyze DSP algorithms for statistical analysis of signal parameter measurements.

- Apply Detection & Estimation Theory, Random Processes Analysis, and Communications and Information Theory to signal processing applications.

- Use MATLAB and related DSP toolboxes to develop, model, analyze, and evaluate signal processing solutions.

- Support radar processing and DSP techniques for mitigating and processing RF effects.

- Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis, including Monte Carlo techniques and phased array/beamforming applications.

- Support hardware prototype development, FlatSat environments, hardware integration, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems, integration, and testing.

- Contribute to space payload design, development, integration, and test (I&T).

- Apply systems engineering principles, requirements management, and system modeling throughout the development lifecycle.

- Support Digital Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities as applicable.

- Identify opportunities to apply AI technologies to engineering processes for continuous improvement and innovation.

Qualifications:

- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law

- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics (STEM) field.

- 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master’s degree plus 3+ years of job-related experience.

- Knowledge of systems engineering concepts, principles, theories, and technical standards.

- Knowledge of requirements management and system modeling tools.

- Experience supporting engineering activities involving hardware and/or software systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience developing digital signal processing algorithms for statistical analysis of signal parameter measurements.

- Working knowledge of MATLAB for DSP and related MATLAB toolboxes.

- Experience with Detection & Estimation Theory, Random Processes Analysis, Communications Theory, or Information Theory.

- Experience with radar processing and DSP techniques for RF effects mitigation and processing.

- Experience with Monte Carlo analysis.

- Experience with phased arrays and beamforming.

- Experience with Python.

- Experience developing SmallSats or CubeSats.

- Experience with hardware prototype development, FlatSat, hardware integration, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), systems integration, or testing.

- Electrical Engineering and/or Systems Engineering experience with a communications or digital signal processing focus.

- Experience with Agile hardware, software, or firmware development.

- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD methodologies.

- Experience with Digital Engineering or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including SysML, MagicDraw, or Cameo.

- Experience with space payload design, development, integration, or test (I&T).

- Agile development experience.
