About this role
### What to Expect
This role is responsible for leading the simulation, modelling, and verification activities related to vehicle power consumption, ensuring robust technical understanding and control of low-voltage energy demand across the vehicle.
The role drives consumption reduction and optimisation initiatives, knowledge owner of all low-voltage consumers, and is accountable for establishing and maintaining power budgets for component specifications based on benchmarking, engineering analysis, and current programme status.
### What You'll Do
• Simulation, Modelling & Verification Accountable for the simulation, modelling, and verification processes used to assess and validate vehicle power consumption performance, ensuring methods are robust, accurate, and aligned to programme needs. • Consumption Reduction & Optimisation Drive power consumption reduction and optimisation activities across the vehicle, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and supporting trade-off decisions to achieve overall system targets. • Low-Voltage Consumer Ownership Maintain technical ownership and understanding of all low-voltage consumers within the vehicle, including their behaviour, interactions, and contribution to overall energy demand across defined vehicle level duty cycles. • Power Budget Management Own and manage the power budgeting for component specifications, using benchmark data, engineering analysis, and current programme maturity to define realistic and controlled consumption targets. • Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with systems, electrical, software, hardware, and attribute teams to ensure power consumption requirements are understood, cascaded, and managed effectively throughout development. • Technical Governance & Reporting Provide clear reporting on consumption status, risks, and opportunities, supporting programme reviews and enabling informed technical decisions.
### What You'll Bring
• Extensive experience in vehicle power consumption analysis, simulation, modelling, and verification within automotive or high-performance engineering environments. • Strong technical grounding in low-voltage electrical systems, vehicle consumers, and the factors that drive overall energy demand. • Practical knowledge of Simulink and System Composer for building, structuring, and maintaining models that support power consumption analysis, system behaviour assessment, and verification activities. • Direct experience defining, managing, and validating power budgets for components and systems, with the ability to use benchmark data and current programme status to guide technical decisions and specification targets. • Demonstrated ability to drive consumption reduction and optimisation activities across multiple systems and stakeholders. • Ability to work cross-functionally with systems, electrical, software, hardware, and attribute teams to manage requirements, assumptions, and trade-offs effectively. • Degree-qualified in engineering (or equivalent), with a strong understanding of electrical system behaviour, energy management, and structured verification methods.
