JobMatchingPartner is assisting an MFSA-licensed bank based in Malta to find a C hief Operating Officer to join their team.
As a COO, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight across all core operational functions, ensuring efficient, compliant, and customer-focused service delivery.
The role is office-based , with a salary of up to €110K + an benefits package .
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead the bank’s overall operational function, ensuring effective and consistent delivery across all areas
- Ensure full compliance with MFSA requirements and applicable EU banking regulations across operations
- Support the bank’s digitalisation agenda by introducing and embedding modern technologies, automation, and digital solutions
- Develop and maintain operational plans that support the organisation’s strategic objectives
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, regularly reviewing and enhancing processes and workflows
- Work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team on the execution of business priorities
- Oversee operational risk management, ensuring appropriate controls and business continuity measures are in place
- Encourage effective collaboration between teams to support smooth day-to-day operations
- Monitor operational performance through KPIs, reporting, and analysis to support decision-making
- Lead and support organisational change initiatives, ensuring smooth adoption of new systems and processes
Education, Skills & Experience
- Proven senior leadership experience within banking or financial services operations in Malta
- Strong understanding of MFSA requirements and EU regulatory frameworks
- Excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal
- Experience in digital transformation or operational improvement initiatives
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Analytical mindset with the ability to improve operational performance
- Experience managing complex, regulated environments
- Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work across teams
