Position Overview
Powers & Sons Construction seeks a Project Executive to lead teams and ensure profitable, consistent delivery using company processes. This leadership role oversees multiple projects or directly leads major assignments ranging from $5 million to more than $30 million across education, healthcare, municipal, commercial, multifamily, and industrial construction. Team size varies by workload.
Key Responsibilities
- Project accountability: Hold weekly check-ins with project teams and joint venture (JV) partners to verify responsibilities are fulfilled. Resolve issues and disputes, ensure corrective action, and cover Project Manager absences.
- Financial oversight: Own project financial management and profitability. Review financial reports (PSRs), billings, costs, and collections; maintain accurate cost and schedule projections. Approve subcontracts and change orders.
- Client engagement: Engage new and existing clients through proactive updates, face-to-face meetings, site walks, and events. Attend owner-architect-contractor (OAC) meetings, resolve concerns, and share project successes to support future work.
- Project delivery: Visit sites regularly to understand project challenges, build relationships with team members, and share company updates. Support Project Managers and ensure company policies, processes, safety, and quality standards are followed. Ensure all required and necessary meetings are scheduled and occur, including project planning, OAC, subcontractor coordination, pre- and post-installation, 4-series kickoff, and client check-in meetings.
- Office leadership: Model Powers & Sons core values. Be accountable for recruiting, mentoring, career development, performance reviews, contracts, strategic planning, and RFP development. Drive continuous improvement through reviews of policies, documents, and processes. Report performance and risks to the President/CEO.
- Pursuit leadership: Lead assigned RFP, RFQ, and prequalification responses from preparation through submission. Coordinate stakeholders and lead interview preparation and execution.
- Estimating and preconstruction: Collaborate with estimating to provide an operations review of competitive bids before submission. Review preconstruction estimate deliverables and guaranteed maximum price (GMP) proposals before submission. Participate continually in preconstruction meetings to provide feedback on project execution, and maintain ongoing engagement with JV partners throughout preconstruction. Schedule and track handoff meetings. Maintain accurate cost and schedule projections for each project.
Qualifications
- Progressive construction management experience leading project teams, financial performance, and client relationships in one or more of our market sectors.
- Strong knowledge of construction budgets, forecasting, contracts, scheduling, preconstruction, and project delivery.
- Clear communication and sound judgment; ability to lead pursuits, coordinate JV partners, develop teams, resolve disputes, and drive corrective action and process improvement.
