JOB SUMMARY

The Geology/Physics Laboratory Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for supporting the instructional laboratories and associated teaching spaces for the Geology and Physics disciplines. The Coordinator ensures that laboratory facilities, equipment, materials, and supplies are maintained in a safe,organized, and instruction-ready condition and provides instructionalsupport through the teaching of assigned geology and/or physics laboratory courses.
The position works closely with faculty and the department chairs to coordinate laboratory needs, maintain equipment and inventory, order supplies, support laboratory activities, and assist with departmental projects. The Coordinator normally teaches a minimum of two laboratory sections per semester, or an equivalent instructional load as assigned, with the remainder of the position devoted to laboratory coordination and departmental support
responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Coordinate the day-to-day operation of instructional laboratories and associated teaching spaces used by the Geology and Physics disciplines.

- Teach assigned Geology and/or Physics laboratory courses based on departmental needs and academic qualifications.

- Prepare and maintain laboratory spaces, equipment, materials, and supplies for instruction.

- Maintain laboratory inventory and coordinate ordering, receiving, and storage of supplies and equipment.

- Perform routine equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs, calibration, or replacement as needed.

- Maintain safe, organized, and instruction-ready laboratory spaces.

- Assist faculty with laboratory activities, demonstrations, equipment, and instructional needs.

- Support laboratory improvements, equipment installations, outreach activities, and other departmental projects as assigned.

- Maintain required instructional and laboratory records and follow College policies and procedures.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in Geology or Physics or college coursework and/or experience sufficient to qualify the individual to teach laboratory courses in Geology or Physics.

- Knowledge of lab practices and equipment applicable to geology and/or physics instruction.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Graduate coursework in Geology or Physics

- Previous college-level laboratory teaching experience.

- Experience with geology and/or physics laboratory equipment, instrumentation, specimens,models, and instructional materials.

- Experience with equipment inventory, purchasing, maintenance, and laboratory safety.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

- Typical office

- Business Hours

- M-Th 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. F 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

summer M-Th 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 pm

- Periodic evening and weekend hours during peak periods (e.g., open enrollment, payroll)

- Occasional travel (less than 10%)

- Physical Demands

- Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds

- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time

- Use of manual dexterity

- Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

- Travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town may be required

Salary Range: $50,277 - $54,803
