Senior Project Manager - Utilities/Natural Gas - Data Center Construction

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager - Utilities/Natural Gas to lead the successful delivery of a $120 million natural gas pipeline installation project on a greenfield data center site. This individual will have full responsibility for the project's lifecycle, from planning and design coordination through construction, commissioning, and closeout.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in civil construction project management with utility infrastructure experience, along with demonstrated success managing large-scale pipeline, natural gas, energy, or utility construction projects. This role is accountable for overall project execution, including financial performance, scheduling, resource management, risk mitigation, stakeholder coordination, safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the full lifecycle delivery of a $120M natural gas pipeline construction project on a greenfield site.

- Provide overall project leadership for planning, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and project closeout activities.

- Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost controls, and financial reporting to ensure successful financial performance.

- Develop and maintain master project schedules, monitor progress, and implement recovery plans when necessary.

- Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, engineering teams, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.

- Oversee field construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, environmental regulations, and quality standards.

- Direct multidisciplinary teams including engineering, procurement, construction, project controls, and field personnel.

- Manage contract administration, change orders, claims avoidance, and procurement activities.

- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impacts to cost, schedule, safety, and quality.

- Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to project execution, productivity, schedule adherence, and financial performance.

- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing utility and natural gas pipeline construction.

- Support resource planning, workforce management, and subcontractor performance evaluation.

- Build and maintain strong client relationships while driving operational excellence and successful project outcomes.

- Mentor project team members and promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.

- 10+ years of project management experience in utility, pipeline, natural gas, energy, or heavy civil infrastructure construction.

- Proven experience managing large-scale utility or pipeline projects with budgets exceeding $50M+.

- Strong background in civil construction and utility infrastructure projects.

- Demonstrated success managing EPC, design-build, owner representative, or self-perform construction projects.

- Extensive knowledge of project controls, budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, construction management, and risk management.

- Experience working within regulated utility or natural gas environments.

- Proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software platforms.

- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

- Ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple project priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Ability to travel to client offices, project sites, supplier facilities, and fabrication shops as required.

The salary range for this full-time role is $115,700.00-$161,966.69 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
