Construction Project Manager

Tesla is looking for a highly skilled Construction Manager who is passionate about our mission to join our North American R&D Infrastructure team. In this role, you will be asked to own and drive the full funding and construction efforts for various infrastructure development projects in the Hawthrone, CA area and across the U.S. This role will supervise all on-site construction including scheduling and contracts for trade contractors, overseeing vendor tool installations, resolving day to day construction issues, performing inspections to ensure compliance with plans and specifications while tracking project schedule and budget. This role requires close collaboration with Estimating, Design, Procurement, Finance, Self-Perform, etc. teams internally to Tesla.

This role requires you to be extremely detail oriented, identify real hard barriers, and drive the cross-functional teams to execute quickly at high quality. This role will support a new program and will require an entrepreneurial type of candidate who can work with a fast-paced environment and who possesses self-motivation and discipline.

Position based in LA with travel up to 30% across SoCal and various U.S. sites to support projects.

- Serve as primary LA-based project interface between infrastructure team, end users, Facilities, contractors, city officials, and Commissioning teams
- Lead design reviews (tool utilities/interconnections) for constructability and requirements validation; enforce quality standards on drawings and field installations; develop future templates/standards
- Develop and refine site logistics/project plans, including construction sequences, laydown areas, scope delineation, crane ops, and equipment delivery coordination
- Partner with procurement on biddable RFPs; evaluate bids for technical capacity, cost, and schedule; track/challenge all project costs, RFIs, and change orders for best value
- Drive on-time (or early) project delivery, milestone/deliverable tracking, close-out (budget balancing, punch lists), and weekly reports/proposals/presentations
- Promote safety and quality culture; rapidly troubleshoot and resolve field technical issues with engineering support; clearly escalate risks/roadblocks or successes
- Perform dual Superintendent + Project Manager duties during critical timelines as needed

- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 10+ years of experience on large commercial or industrial construction projects
- Knowledgeable on local codes and regulations and experience with Permits / City inspections
- Advanced knowledge and proven delivery on Civil, Structural, and Architectural, Mechanical, electrical, life safety and controls scopes
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and Construction Cost/Data Analysis + Excellent written and verbal communication; presentation skills are a must 
Ability to read, interpret, and manage changes to, awarded scopes of work and contracts, schedules, budgets and drawings, P&IDs, specifications and execution requirements
- Willingness to spend a high percentage of time in the field and get hands dirty as needed to complete objectives or find the correct information
