Passive Safety Engineering Technician, Crash & Sled Labs

The Passive Safety Crash & Sled Test team executes, analyzes, and reports crash and sled tests to support vehicle development, regulatory certification, and consumer protection programs. The team consists of test engineers and engineering technicians who specialize in vehicle preparation, instrumentation, and imaging.

- Conduct vehicle and component-level crash and sled tests per written and oral procedures while ensuring quality and repeatability
- Prepare sled bucks and test samples and retrofit or rebuild test vehicles for crash and sled testing
- Install and remove crash fixtures, lab equipment, and ballast weights
- Perform pre- and post-test measurements and positioning using a CMM and install sensors while operating data acquisition systems and cameras
- Execute sled tests including teardown and results support and assist with crash test execution and documentation
- Decommission crash vehicles including high-voltage battery removal and discharge and maintain equipment and lab organization
- Maintain a safe working environment and support lab improvements and 5S standards

- Associate’s degree in engineering or automotive technology, OEM test technician training, or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience diagnosing, repairing, and replacing components on hybrid, BEV, and passenger vehicles with Tesla or certified BEV experience preferred
- Proficiency with tools and shop equipment, ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted, and basic fabrication or welding knowledge preferred
- Computer proficiency for diagnosis, test setup, and reporting using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Jira, PolyWorks, and Tesla-specific tools
- Clear verbal and digital communication skills with the ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Proactive attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and openness to cross-training
- 1+ year of test laboratory experience preferred, valid driver’s license, and flexibility for overtime and weekends as needed

Expected Compensation $24.40 - $65.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
