The Role:

The Marketing and Communications Lead will oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive and integrated marketing and communications strategy to amplify UKUIMP’s strategic marketing and communications objectives.

The role will help position UK branch campuses in India as responsible, long-term partners in India’s higher education ambitions, offering students access to UK-quality education and campus-based learning closer to home.

The postholder will work closely with British Council's Marketing and Communications team, the UKUIMP member universities, the PR agency and relevant UK/India stakeholders to ensure a unified UK voice, an India-first partnership narrative and a clear student-facing proposition for UK campuses in India.

Main accountabilities but not limited to the following:

Several key programmes and campaigns are planned as per the UKUIMP calendar for the rest of the financial year and beyond, and they require dedicated marketing and communications support that covers:

Strategy, planning and governance

- Develop and deliver the integrated annual UKUIMP marcomms strategy, activity calendar and implementation plan.
- Formalise ways of working with member universities, British Council Marketing and Communications, PR agency, Secretariat and relevant UK/India stakeholders.
- Coordinate the strategic communications working group and monthly coordination meetings; prepare agenda, actions and follow-ups.
- Maintain approval protocols for sensitive communications, paid campaigns, influencer activity, member amplification and crisis response.

Student-facing marketing and demand-building

- Lead the marketing plan for active IBC cities and selected feeder markets, with clear audience segmentation for students, parents and counsellors.
- Manage the UK Study in India student-facing page as the central hub for campus options, FAQ's, scholarships, outbound clicks on member pages.
- Develop campaign assets and toolkits for city-level awareness, campus discovery, open days, IBC fairs, webinars, parent/counsellor sessions and nurture journeys.
- Plan and oversee organic and, where budget is approved, paid campaigns across Meta, Search, YouTube and other relevant digital channels.
- Set CTA hierarchy and tracking for page visits, outbound clicks, registrations, webinar sign-ups, newsletter/WhatsApp opt-ins and retargeting audiences.

Content, storytelling and proof engine

- Create and manage a shared content bank of student stories, faculty voices, campus visuals, parent moments, member university proof points, employer inputs and consent records.
- Collate proof-led content across key messaging pillars.
- Produce or coordinate website copy, newsletters, social media posts, campaign copy, thought leadership pieces, press materials, briefing packs and partner templates.
- Ensure all content is accurate, accessible, brand-compliant, evidence-led and approved by relevant members/stakeholders.

Communications, media and reputation

- Develop and manage the messaging framework and national media narrative around UK TNE and IBCs in India.
- Work with the communications team and PR agency to secure quality feature stories, interviews, op-eds, media briefings and stakeholder visibility opportunities.
- Coordinate with journalists, influencers, podcasters and bloggers where appropriate, following agreed approval and vetting protocols.
- Support counter-narrative activity to address misinformation, elitism narratives, regulatory sensitivities and quality/trust concerns.

Member engagement and account management

- Build trusted relationships with member university marketing and communications teams, spokespersons and decision makers.
- Maintain a coordinated annual marketing and events calendar, including member announcements, campus launches, open days, fairs and thought leadership moments.
- Issue member communications and marketing toolkits to standardise messaging and maximise reach through partner channels.
- Handle member concerns proactively and ensure partner priorities are reflected while maintaining UKUIMP’s collective strategic objectives.

Measurement, reporting and optimisation

- Set up and maintain GA4, UTM, and campaign reporting structures in collaboration with digital/marketing colleagues.
- Build a dashboard covering awareness, engagement, informed action, proof creation, media quality, member amplification, sentiment/risk and budget performance.
- Provide monthly updates, campaign performance reports and actionable insights to the British Council and UKUIMP Steering Committee.
- Use performance data to recommend content, channel, budget and audience optimisations.

Budget and supplier management

- Prepare annual and campaign-level budget plans for approved marcomms activities.
- Maintain annual expenditure within agreed tolerance; review budget performance monthly and recommend reallocations based on campaign performance.
- Coordinate briefs, timelines, outputs and payments for agencies, freelancers, designers, media partners and other suppliers as required.

Requirements of the role:

- Degree or professional qualification in communications, journalism, marketing plus 8-10 years relevant experience preferably in education and study UK marketing and communications.
- Proven experience managing global marketing and communications programmes with multiple stakeholders
- Highly experienced in the design and delivery of marketing and communications plans

Desirable :

- Experience in effectively negotiating budgets and resources with senior stakeholders
- Knowledge of strategic planning and budgeting management.
- Experience of communications and / or marketing within the Education sector
