Organizational Context

The Bureau for Advocacy and External Relations leads and supports UNDP to build and deliver essential strategic relationships and alliances. It creates and delivers a strong public narrative about the organization, impact of our work, and how we align with partners to identify and build solutions towards achieving sustainable development. The Bureau also leads UNDP’s work with traditional donors, as well as building innovative and diversified funding relationships. BERA communications enable strong political and financial backing by providing partners and supporters with a clear understanding of what UNDP does and how our mission, capabilities and services reinforce global, regional, and national development priorities. BERA leads efforts to optimally position UNDP within the UN Development System, with Member States and in the inter-governmental and inter-agency fora. It identifies strategic opportunities to partner with agencies through multi-stakeholder and bilateral platforms. It provides intelligence, advises on relationships with key political constituencies, incl. UN Member states, G77 and China, WEOG, EU, Executive Board and develops strategies. BERA coordinates and sets corporate standards across the functions of political positioning, partnerships, marketing and communications within UNDP and leads on internal communications.

This position is part of the Strategy, Projections, Analysis and Corporate Engagement Team (SPACE) in the Directorate, which serves as the ‘nerve centre’ for providing forward-looking strategic analysis and advice to senior leadership on the overall strategy and tactical positioning of the Bureau. The team helps drive UNDP’s corporate resource mobilization strategy, engagement with other UN entities and Member States in Structured Funding Dialogues, and overall strategic analytics for corporate engagement.

Job Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Projections and Performance Analysis Specialist, the Performance Analysis and Projections Analyst is responsible for supporting the Specialist in developing funding analysis and projections, coordinating performance assessments of UNDP, administering the UNDP Partnership Survey, and liaising with GSSU for proper recording of contributions.

UNDP adopts a portfolio approach to accommodate changing business needs and leverage linkages across interventions to achieve its strategic goals. This is a recognition of interconnected nature of development risks & crises that the world is facing and that call for assembling of multidisciplinary teams for an integrated & systemic response. Therefore, UNDP personnel are expected to work across issues, units, functions, teams and projects in multidisciplinary teams in order to enhance and enable horizontal collaboration

Duties and Responsibilities

1.) Support resource analysis and funding projections and resource mobilization

- Prepare recurring funding projections, dashboards and analytical tables using commitment, contribution, pipeline and donor intelligence data, under the guidance of the Specialist.

- Draft data inputs and supporting narrative for annual funding reports, the Funding Compendium, funding toolkits and other corporate products.

- Prepare and quality-assure supporting data and draft content for Executive Board papers, including the Structured Funding Dialogue report and related annexes.

- Support research on flexible funding modalities and help prepare materials for consultations on funding the UNDP Strategic Plan.

- Ensure timely and accurate recording of contributions and multi-year agreements in Quantum plus (UNITY), reconcile funding commitment and contributions records, identify discrepancies and follow up with relevant offices and the Global Shared Service Center (GSSC)

- Prepare UNDP’s supporting documentation for the UN Pledging Conference..

2.) Support external performance assessments, partner feedback and knowledge sharing

- Support external partner assessments and the UNDP Partnership Survey, coordinating with Central and Regional Bureaux to help ensure timely, quality and credible data.

- Track implementation of assessment recommendations and help communicate progress to partners and stakeholders.

- Synthesize assessment, survey and performance data into clear summaries to support decision-making and organizational improvements.

- Collect and synthesize BERA inputs to the UNDP Strategic Plan, the Integrated Results and Resources Framework (IRRF) and other corporate planning and reporting processes.

- Support monitoring and reporting on Bureau-level performance, helping ensure work plans reflect corporate priorities.

- Contribute to training, knowledge products and communities of practice to build understanding and use of performance and planning data.

3.) Support the effective utilization of UNITY for partnership management

- Support consistent use of UNITY (UNDP's CRM system) across BERA and the wider organization.

- Verify and validate new organizations and support assignment of UNITY focal points to keep partnership data accurate and consistent.

- Monitor pipeline data and follow up with bureaus/offices to help keep information up to date, flagging policy compliance issues to relevant colleagues.

- Liaise with ITM and other units to support system functionality and flag improvement needs.

- Identify and escalate system or implementation risks to management as appropriate.

The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organisation.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in international relations, political or social sciences, law, economics, finance, business administration, public administration or other related field.is required, or

- A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.

- A degree with a strong quantitative, data science, or statistics component is an asset

Experience:

- Minimum 2 years (with Master’s degree), or 4 years (Bachelor’s degree), of relevant professional work

- experience in Resource Analysis and Corporate Funding Projections is required.;

- Demonstrated experience preparing funding projections, dashboards, or analytical reports using contribution, pipeline, or donor data.

- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior management.

- Experience with CRM or ERP systems (e.g., Salesforce, Quantum, SAP, or similar) for recording and reconciling partnership/financial data is an asset.

- Working knowledge of AI tools and applications for data analysis, forecasting, or process automation (e.g., using AI/LLM-based tools to synthesize large datasets, draft analytical narratives, or build lightweight automation scripts) is desirable.

- Strong proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau); experience with Python or R for data processing is an asset.

Language:

- Fluency in English (both written and oral). Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage
