Senior Tekla Detailer - Structural Steel

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tekla Detailer to lead structural steel modeling and detailing from design through fabrication and field erection.

This role combines advanced hands-on Tekla Structures expertise with technical leadership. The Senior Detailer will be responsible for model and drawing quality, detailing standards, workflow improvements, and mentoring other detailers.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in a structural steel fabrication environment and understands the complete detailing process, from 3D modeling and connection detailing through shop drawings, fabrication, and erection.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and review detailed Tekla Structures models, shop drawings, erection drawings, and fabrication packages for structural steel projects.
- Establish, maintain, and improve standards for Tekla modeling, detailing, and drawing production.
- Lead, mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to structural steel detailers.
- Perform quality-control reviews to ensure models and drawings are accurate, consistent, and fabrication-ready.
- Coordinate with engineers, Project Managers, estimators, fabrication teams, and production personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review structural drawings, architectural plans, specifications, and engineering documents for accuracy, completeness, and constructability.
- Conduct detailed QC reviews of Tekla models and fabrication drawings before release to production.
- Support fabrication and field teams by resolving RFIs, revisions, connection issues, and technical detailing questions .
- Identify opportunities to improve Tekla workflows, templates, automation, and drawing standards.
- Assist with workload planning, project scheduling, and prioritization to meet production deadlines.
- Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to ensure models and drawings accurately reflect project requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, consistency, and department efficiency .

Requirements

- 8+ years of structural steel detailing experience with advanced Tekla Structures proficiency.
- Structural steel fabrication experience is required.
- Advanced Tekla Structures proficiency is required.
- Proven experience developing or improving Tekla standards, templates, workflows, or detailing procedures.
- Previous experience leading, mentoring, training, or supervising structural steel detailers.
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, connection detailing, erection sequencing, and shop drawing production .
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, architectural plans, specifications, and engineering documents.
- Experience coordinating with engineering, fabrication, production, and project management teams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accurate, fabrication-ready documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and production deadlines.
- Strong understanding of the relationship between 3D modeling, fabrication, and field erection .
