About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Change Order Estimator to join our Project Management team. In this role, you will play a critical part in project profitability and schedule execution by identifying design changes, quantifying scope modifications, and preparing accurate change order requests (CORs) for commercial and industrial structural steel projects.

Working closely with Project Managers, Subcontractors, and the COR Manager, you will leverage industry tools like Bluebeam and Tekla EPM to ensure all additions, deletions, and adjustments are thoroughly vetted, priced, and tracked.

Key ResponsibilitiesScope Analysis & Estimating
Review structural steel design and revision drawings to identify scope changes, additions, and deletions. Perform detailed digital markups using Bluebeam to communicate revised scope accurately to project stakeholders. Input material revisions into Tekla EPM to generate accurate material, labor, and fabrication estimates. Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor quotes, negotiating and incorporating them into complete Change Order Request (COR) packages.

Project Coordination & Tracking
Collaborate with the COR Manager and Project Managers to review, finalize, and submit complete COR packages for client approval. Follow up consistently with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members to ensure timely cost capturing. Maintain and update Excel tracking logs to keep Accounting and Project Management informed on the status of pending and approved change orders.

QualificationsRequired:
Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection practices, structural shapes, and standard construction terminology. Document Interpretation: Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and cross-reference architectural/structural drawings, revision clouds, specifications, and contractual documents. Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (data manipulation, formulas, tracking templates) and general MS Office applications. Strong working knowledge of PDF markup and editing software (e.g., Bluebeam Revu , Adobe Acrobat). Technical Skills: Strong mathematical aptitude, including practical geometry and computational skills. Professional Attributes: High level of accuracy, strong organizational skills, self-directed focus, and clear written and verbal communication.

Preferred:
Hands-on experience with Tekla EPM (FabSuite) or similar steel management estimating software. Ability to interpret detailed structural steel shop fabrication and erection drawings. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or an equivalent minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in structural steel fabrication or estimating).

Work Environment & Schedule
Work Setting: Professional office environment. Physical Demands: Role requires sustained periods of focused screen time, drawing review, and detailed computational work. Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday.
