Mechanical Engineer

Description The Mechanical Engineer II designs and develops mechanical and electromechanical components and systems for company products, working under the technical direction of the Lead Mechanical Engineer. This position is expected to develop and maintain a genuine working understanding of the complete product — not just assigned components in isolation — and to own the responsibility of designing components and assemblies that are truly buildable and that meet the needs of internal and external customers. The Mechanical Engineer II actively interfaces with Production, Materials, Field Services, R&D, and other departments to understand build, supply, and field conditions firsthand, and applies that understanding directly to design decisions rather than working from a purely supportive or hand-off role. This position reports to the Lead Mechanical Engineer. Skills ASME Y14.5, GD&T, geometric dimensioning, geometric tolerancing, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, Mechanical engineering, autodesk, inventor, 3D design, 2D design, solidworks, autocad, Design, Mechanical design Top Skills Details ASME Y14.5,GD&T,geometric dimensioning,geometric tolerancing,geometric dimensioning and tolerancing,Mechanical engineering,autodesk,inventor,3D design,2D design Additional Skills & Qualifications ● Designs and develops mechanical and electromechanical components and assemblies using 3D and 2D CAD tools, applying sound engineering judgment consistent with the direction of the Lead Mechanical Engineer. ● Develops and maintains a working understanding of how assigned components and assemblies fit into the complete product, and designs with that full-product context in mind. ● Prepares detailed technical drawings, models, product definition drawings, and BOM content that are genuinely buildable and support accurate production and assembly. ● Applies engineering fundamentals — mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and basic heat transfer — to component and assembly design. ● Participates in feasibility studies, design reviews, and testing to validate design concepts and confirm that designs meet the needs of internal and external customers. ● Actively interfaces with Production, Materials, Field Services, and R&D — including time spent on the production floor and, when necessary, at job sites — to understand build, supply, and field conditions firsthand and apply that insight to design decisions. ● Owns root-cause investigation of mechanical issues identified in production or the field for assigned designs, escalating to the Lead Mechanical Engineer when broader design authority is required. ● Maintains accurate revision history and documentation for assigned drawings and BOMs. ● Prepares technical reports summarizing test results, design updates, and performance data. ● Ensures assigned work complies with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. ● Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. ● 2–5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience; manufacturing or product-development environment preferred Experience Level Intermediate Level

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $115000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Provides basic health and retirement offerings, though specific official benefit packages are limited for this small, privately held alternative energy company.
