Aviation Architects

Every journey begins and ends somewhere. At Grimshaw, we design the places where those journeys happen, and we are looking for architects to join the aviation team in our London studio in Clerkenwell.

Aviation has been part of our story for decades. From the Landside and Airside Centres at Zurich Airport to the terminal at Istanbul Airport, one of the largest in the world, our teams have shaped how millions of people arrive, depart and connect. Closer to home, we were selected as concept designers for the expansion of Heathrow Airport and have worked on Heathrow's Pier 4A. Across our global studios, we have led the design of a new terminal at Newark Liberty International Airport and the master plan for JFK International Airport.

The role

You will contribute to complex airport projects at every scale, from master planning and terminal design to the detail of how a passenger finds their way from kerb to gate. Aviation design rewards people who enjoy solving problems: balancing operational demands, passenger experience, sustainability and the character of the place that each airport serves. You will work closely with engineers, planners, airport operators and colleagues in our studios around the world.

Our studios are friendly and democratic, and good ideas are welcomed from everyone, whatever their role or level of experience. With over 500 people and more than 50 nationalities across seven studios worldwide, you will be part of a genuinely global practice. We offer hybrid working, with core hours that give you flexibility over how you structure your day.

Is this you?

- You hold ARB registration or an equivalent international professional qualification in architecture.
- You have experience on aviation projects, or on other large and complex transport or infrastructure projects where your skills would transfer.
- You work confidently in Autodesk Revit environments.
- You care about design quality and pay close attention to detail.
- You communicate clearly and enjoy working as part of medium and large project teams.
- You are keen to contribute to studio life and to support junior colleagues.
