Position Summary
The Engineering Technician provides technical support for a high-volume roll forming and value-added manufacturing operation. This position serves as a key resource for troubleshooting production equipment and processes, working closely with Maintenance, Production Supervision, and Process Engineering. The primary reporting and work direction for this role will come from Process Engineering Management.
The Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting equipment reliability, process improvements, new product introductions, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a strong hands-on background in PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, robotics and mechanical troubleshooting within a manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Equipment and Process Support
- Troubleshoot and resolve production equipment issues involving PLC controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
- Support maintenance personnel in diagnosing and correcting complex equipment failures.
- Assist production teams in minimizing downtime and improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Analyze recurring equipment and process issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Support root cause investigations and implementation of permanent corrective measures.
Process Engineering Support
- Work directly with Process Engineering Management to develop, improve, and standardize manufacturing processes.
- Assist in establishing process parameters and operating standards for roll forming and value-added operations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, setup sheets, and troubleshooting guides.
- Support process validation and capability studies.
New Product Introduction
- Assist with onboarding and launch of new products into production.
- Support tooling trials, process development, and production startup activities.
- Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, quality, and operations personnel to ensure successful product implementation.
- Evaluate production readiness and recommend process improvements prior to full-scale production.
Project and Technical Support
- Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, and automation projects.
- Support installation and commissioning of new machinery and production equipment.
- Participate in capital improvement projects and equipment evaluations.
- Maintain technical records, drawings, schematics, and process documentation.
Safety and Quality
- Promote and support a safe work environment and compliance with all company safety policies.
- Support quality initiatives by identifying and addressing process variation and equipment-related quality concerns.
- Participate in corrective and preventive action activities related to customer and internal quality issues.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and manufacturing experience will be considered.
Experience
- 3+ years of manufacturing, maintenance, engineering technician, or related industrial experience preferred.
- Experience in roll forming, metal fabrication, stamping, or similar manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting automated production equipment and industrial controls.
Technical Skills
- Strong PLC troubleshooting skills (programming experience is a plus).
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with process development and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and root cause analysis techniques.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic engineering software applications.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Ability to safely access production equipment for troubleshooting and process support.
- Willingness to flex schedule and work overtime where necessary to support operations
