About this role
Summary: This position is responsible for learning to use blueprints to determine project specifications, how to set up and operate machine tools, finish and adjust parts, and test tools to ensure quality standards are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Includes the following:

- Demonstrate proficiency at reading/interpreting sketches, blueprints, specifications, and models to plan operations for the fabrication of dies, tools, and rolls, ensuring safety and maximum efficiency
- Learn how to verify dimensions of finished parts to ensure they conform to specifications using dial indicators, gauge blocks, calipers, and micrometers
- Learn how to utilize hand and machine tools to assemble parts of tools and dies and to repair and modify gauges, jigs, and dies
- Learn how to design templates and jigs to be used as work aids for convenient fabrication of products and parts
- Train how to diagnose and troubleshoot problems and perform repairs on tools, manually operated dies and progressive dies
- Learn how to use standard tool room machinery: surface grinders, mills, drills, lathes, etc.
- Learn how to select the appropriate metals and materials to be used based on properties, ensuring they meet project specifications

Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Skills: Basic mathematical (Add, subtract, multiply, divide), Basic understanding of geometry, use basic measurement tools (tape measure, caliper micrometer, gauge blocks), understand verbal and written instructions, ability to read Manufacturing schematics, ability to problem solve and troubleshoot mechanical problems.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand . The employee is regularly required to use hands to feel or handle tools, objects and controls. The employee is required to lift or move up to 50 pounds repetitively. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus .

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Additional Skills/or Abilities: (Not required, but preferred)
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding.
