Associate Director - Risk Offshore

The Offshore Risk Asset Manager SME will provide technical leadership and specialist advisory services across offshore asset portfolios, supporting clients in identifying, evaluating, mitigating, and managing operational, commercial, environmental, and strategic risks throughout the asset lifecycle.

The role will act as a trusted advisor to clients and project teams, driving best practice in risk management, asset performance optimisation, resilience planning, operational readiness, and long-term asset value protection.

You’ll need to have:

Asset risk management

- Lead the development and implementation of offshore asset risk management frameworks, methodologies, and governance processes.
- Undertake risk identification, assessment, and mitigation activities across asset lifecycles.
- Develop risk registers, mitigation strategies, contingency plans, and reporting mechanisms.
- Monitor emerging risks and opportunities associated with offshore operations and asset performance.

Strategic advisory

- Provide expert technical advice to clients on offshore asset integrity, operational resilience, maintenance strategies, and business continuity.
- Support investment decisions through risk-based asset management assessments.
- Advise on regulatory compliance, industry best practice, and evolving offshore sector requirements.
- Asset Performance and Reliability
- Analyse asset performance data and operational trends.
- Support optimisation of maintenance and inspection programmes.
- Drive reliability-centred and risk-based maintenance approaches.
- Identify improvement initiatives that enhance asset value, availability, and safety.

Stakeholder management

- Act as the subject matter expert within multidisciplinary project and programme teams.
- Build strong relationships with clients, operators, regulators, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Present risk findings and recommendations to senior client leadership teams and governance boards.

Governance and assurance

- Lead technical reviews, audits, and assurance activities.
- Support compliance with relevant offshore legislation, standards, and regulatory frameworks.
- Ensure risk management practices align with corporate and client governance requirements.

Knowledge leadership

- Contribute to Mace's technical excellence and thought leadership.
- Develop internal capability through mentoring, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
- Support business development activities and proposal submissions related to offshore asset management and risk services.

You’ll need to have:

- Degree qualified in Engineering, Asset Management, Risk Management, Marine Engineering, Offshore Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer, Chartered Asset Manager, or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Demonstrable experience managing risk within offshore energy, offshore wind, oil and gas, marine, ports, or major infrastructure environments.
- Significant experience in offshore asset management and risk advisory roles.
- Proven ability to develop and implement enterprise-level risk management strategies.
- Experience working with asset operators, developers, investors, or major programme delivery organisations.
- Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, reliability engineering, and operational risk.
- Experience presenting complex technical information to executive stakeholders.
