Job Title: SMT Engineer Job Description This SMT Engineer role focuses on developing and optimizing surface mount technology (SMT) processes to support high-quality electronic manufacturing. You will investigate and implement new SMT processes, drive cost and efficiency improvements, and support the installation and commissioning of new equipment at manufacturing sites. You will collaborate closely with Process Engineering and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth, zero-defect product launches and robust manufacturing processes for current and future products. Responsibilities

- Investigate, develop, and implement new SMT processes to support existing and new product lines.
- Drive cost reduction and efficiency improvements in SMT manufacturing processes while maintaining high quality standards.
- Support the installation and commissioning of new SMT and related manufacturing equipment at production sites.
- Work closely with site Process Engineering teams and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth, zero-defect (0 PPM) product launches.
- Prepare equipment quotations and standard time (ST) estimates for new business opportunities.
- Develop robust manufacturing processes for new component types and electronic control units.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering to establish and maintain process Value Engineering/Validation (VEC) standards for current and future products.
- Contribute to process design activities, including tooling, fixtures, and workflows for SMT and associated operations.
- Utilize tools such as SolidWorks, vision systems, and robotics to enhance process capability and automation.
- Support ongoing process improvements by analyzing performance data and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide technical support and training to manufacturing and engineering teams related to SMT processes and equipment.

Essential Skills

- Minimum of 3+ years of SMT manufacturing experience.
- Hands-on experience with SMT soldering and solder process development.
- Experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on electronic/SMT components.
- Experience with equipment installation and commissioning in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of electronic control unit manufacturing processes.
- Ability to provide launch support for new products and processes.
- Proficiency in process design for SMT and related operations.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Bachelors degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronic, or a related engineering discipline.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience using SolidWorks for mechanical and process design activities.
- Familiarity with vision systems such as Keyence and Cognex.
- Exposure to robotics and automation in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working within cross-functional engineering teams.
- Ability to collaborate with Design Engineering to define and maintain process Value Engineering/Validation (VEC) standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Interest in professional growth within a global engineering network.

Work Environment The role is based in a clean-room, climate-controlled manufacturing environment focused on electronic and SMT component production. You will work with advanced SMT equipment, vision systems, robotics, and engineering tools such as SolidWorks. Some travel, estimated at less than 30%, may be required to support other manufacturing locations, including sites in North Carolina and Mexico. This is a Permanent position based out of Harrodsburg, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $140000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Health, dental, vision, onsite nurse support, PTO and holiday pay. Relocation assistance available.
