We are seeking a Principal Statistical Associate - Biostatistician to lead statistical analyses on diverse clinical research projects. This includes working with data from clinical trials, epidemiologic studies, and administrative datasets. You will collaborate with sponsors, external investigators, and internal project team members on various federal research projects, including Phase 1-4 randomized clinical trials. Your role will involve designing studies, conducting data analysis, and contributing to scientific publications. Additionally, you will present computational and statistical analysis results to collaborators and assist with data access, analysis, and interpretation.
Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and collaborate with sponsors and investigators on the development and review of study protocols, emphasizing Bayesian methods.
- Develop study aims, research hypotheses, and assess their appropriateness and feasibility.
- Estimate optimal sample size for desired power, considering resource limitations.
- Develop statistical considerations and analysis methods for study protocols.
- Create statistical analysis plans and guide the data management team.
- Oversee all phases of analytical programming, data management, and reporting of research data.
- Conduct statistical analysis for clinical trials and epidemiological projects, ensuring accuracy and presenting data.
- Research, recommend, and implement methods for validating, troubleshooting, and interpreting results.
- Participate in quality control processes and review output, tables, and charts.
- Present analytic results to internal and external audiences, providing context and background material.
- Serve as a data resource for research project teams and interact with clients and external investigators.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Bayesian Methods, R, SAS, and statistical leadership.
- Experience in clinical trial design, Bayesian biostatistics, and adaptive designs.
- Ability to perform sample size and power calculations.
- Hands-on experience in statistical programming using R and SAS.
- Capability in quality control and validation.
- Client-facing communication skills and leadership in study teams.
- Experience in scientific presentations and publications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- PhD in Biostatistics or a related quantitative field with 5 years of relevant post-doctoral experience.
- Experience in health research and advanced data analysis.
- Proficiency in a broad range of statistical methods for clinical trials and epidemiologic research.
- Deep knowledge of Bayesian adaptive and SMART designs.
- Ability to plan, direct, and develop statistical analysis plans.
Work Environment
This role requires working onsite at our office in Bethesda, Maryland, 2 days per week, with the flexibility to work from your home office 3 days per week. The position supports government-funded clinical research trials and offers flexibility to extend or convert to a full-time position.

This is a Contract position based out of Rockville, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $80.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
