Quality Control Manager

Job Title: Federal Quality Control Manager (Mechanical) Job Description
This role serves as a replacement hire for a Federal Quality Control Manager with strong mechanical expertise who can oversee quality control activities on federal projects, including those governed by USACE requirements. The position combines hands-on mechanical knowledge with project management responsibilities to ensure all work meets applicable standards, specifications, and contract requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage quality control activities on federal construction or mechanical projects in accordance with USACE and other applicable federal standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific quality control plans, procedures, and documentation.
- Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure mechanical work complies with design specifications and contract requirements.
- Conduct inspections, tests, and reviews of mechanical systems and components to verify compliance with quality standards.
- Identify quality issues, nonconformances, and potential risks, and implement corrective and preventive actions in a timely manner.
- Prepare and maintain detailed quality control records, reports, and logs for internal and external review.
- Participate in project meetings to provide quality control input and ensure alignment with federal and USACE expectations.
- Support project planning and scheduling by integrating quality control milestones and requirements.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to resolve quality-related concerns and maintain a strong focus on continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience serving as a Quality Control Manager on federal projects.
- Strong mechanical background with hands-on understanding of mechanical systems and components.
- Experience working under USACE (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) or similar federal project requirements.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, coordination, and documentation.
- Ability to develop and implement quality control plans and procedures for mechanical and federal projects.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Effective communication and coordination skills for working with project teams and stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in combined roles such as Project Manager and Quality Control Manager on federal projects.
- Familiarity with federal contract requirements and documentation processes.
- Capability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a project-driven environment.
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency in maintaining accurate quality records and reports.
Work Environment
The role operates within a federal project environment that requires strict adherence to USACE and other federal standards. The Quality Control Manager works closely with project management, mechanical, and field teams to oversee quality across all phases of the project. The position may involve a mix of office-based planning and documentation along with on-site inspections of mechanical systems and installations. The work environment emphasizes compliance, documentation, and collaboration to ensure all mechanical and project deliverables meet rigorous quality requirements.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Stewart, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58.00 - $75.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
